But why would she just drop everything for someone she has acknowledged doesn't recognise her feelings? It's the same with Misty at the Cerulean Gym: There are more important things in life than following a ten year old kid who isn't ready for love yet.

Firstly: He is most-definitely not 10 any more.
Secondly: As Ash-ketchum said, why not?, if they really loved him they would have packed their bags and went after him. And we all know she loves him, is she up to the challenge though?...

The characters don't age. He's still ten.

Anabel and Misty have their priorities exactly right. Ash doesn't recognise their love at the moment so there is no point in devoting their young life just to him when they have been given bigger responsibilities.

As of D/P, Ash is fourteen.

Love is a two-way street. They would pack-up, but only if Ash returns their feelings.

You don't have a source for that. The only official word was that he was ten at the start of the series and still ten at the start of AG. Thus, he does not age.

Ash will learn to return feelings of love one day.

It's in a Japanese ad for D/P. He's the equivalent of a junior high student, which would put him at around that age. The exact age is not sure, but he's definitely older than 10-years-old.

It IS resonable to say that at the start of D/P Ash is at least 12 years old. I say this because, in the episode "Gathering the Gang of Four", Ash told Bulbasaur and the other Kanto starters that Charizard was excited since he was remembering the good memories they shared "over the years".

Ash did say years, indicating that at least two years had passed since he, Pikachu, Chamander/Charizard, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur were battling together.

We had references to at least two years passing before and yet he is still officially 10 at the start of AG.

It was in another age debate thread. I tried searching for it, but the search engine doesn't allow for words less than four letters long. >_<

Ash is still ten and always will be, face it.

While years pass, he is a timeless character. It would take an idiot not to be able to comprehend that.

Although Ash is ten, I perceive him as being older. Maybe it's because he's so determined and mature, i'm not sure. It's hard for me to see him as a ten year old, and I sometimes have to remind myself he is.

He's definately matured, but that's through travelling rather than age.

According to MistyWishMaker, the magazine scan showing Ash's new outfit said he was a "chuugoku ninensei" meaning middle school second grade or in English 7th grade. In other words, he's at least twelve according to CoroCoro.

Source:

The Kanji reads "Chuugaku ni nen sei." He started out Pokemon at 10 years old. "Ni nen sei" means second year, and "Chuugaku" means middle school (in Japan), so he's a Middle school second year. Two years have passed since he was ten (hence 'ni nen sei') so now he's twelve.

Don't jump to conclusions.

There are so many errors in that post I don't know where to start. First, it says 小学二年生, not 中学二年生. If we take that at face value then Satoshi would be 7 years old.

Second, even if it did say 中学二年生 it would mean he was 14, not 12. This is the equivalent of US grade 8, not 7. (Japanese middle school and high school both last for three years.)

Third, 小学二年生 is the title of the magazine, not any description of Satoshi.

Thanks for the clarification. I'll pass this along to her.

In show he said he was ten years old at the beginning of the series. May also said she was ten years old at her debut. The official Japanese website says they are the same age, even though they've stated in show that several years have passed in between the start of the series and the start of AG.

Therefore, only one conclusion can be drawn.

To play Devil's Advocate, did the website say that Ash and May were exactly the same age, or was it more general? If Ash was eleven or twelve in AG, then he'd still be roughly in the same age bracket as May.

My opinion is that the characters don't age, but I wish they did.

The same site said that Max is 7 so I would assume that it said the ages specifically.

Though that leads me to ask whether it mentioned an age for Brock.

No, Fabu said at the start of AG, Ash was ten. I wanted a source for that statement.

Ive been thinking about this... and I believe that "officially" the characters dont age. But they act they do. Like in the episode "Wailord of a time", Theres a new trainer and she just turned 10. Firstly she talks like a little kid (compared to the others), and secondly she is considerably shorter than Ash and May and barely taller than Max (I thought max was like 8 or something?). But then again children all grow and mature at a different pace so that could be possible I guess. Again I think they all show age, just slower than in reallity. But officially (as in what we've heard from the pokemon website and stuff), they are still the same age as they started. Eh I hope you understood what I was trying to say o_O
