I mean without asking?

I mean I just watch the "ash catches a gible" episode and I wondered about this.

I just find this cheap, in the game you are handed Pokemon but you can't just ask a wild Pokemon to get in the pokeball.

I hope the next get doesn't do this as it ruins the fun.

I think the reason they do that in the anime is to make the Pokemon feel more like real creatures rather than souless game sprites.

Probably, but all the same, I wish they would stick to how it really works.

"anymore"?How long have you been watching this series? The proportion of pokemon obteined by battle and okemon obteined by bonding has ALWAYS been more weighed on the later. Its part of the charm of the anime,it can do interesting things you cant do in the games.

QFT. Ash has been obtaining Pokemon through bonding since Kanto (Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur being a mixture...).

I know but it seems to be happening more often I think all his current pokemon were by friendship or giveaway.

really...

Turtiw-by battle.
Chimchar-technically battled first
Starly-by battle
Buizel-Captured by battle, obtained in a trade for a pokemon that was obtained by battle too.
Gligar-by bonding(and considering the nature of the pokemon,a battle would have been illogical)
Gible-by donding

I suggest you to have look at bullbapedia.

It doesn't bother me actually. It's more how the whole capturing process is handled, than how exactly it gets in the poke ball.

its been that way for just about the entirety of the series and its bothering you know?
well it wasn't so obvious to me till aipom

eh I'm' convinced, though I wish we could train out pokemon by sparring them against each other.

The entire point of the anime is friendship! All caught Pokemon usually trust their owner even before capture.

It really depends on whether the Pokemon is looking to test the rival trainer, or has already made up its mind.

I think they should just have Ash to battle and try to catch every wild Pokemon he comes across, including legendarys. Sure making friends with them is nice, but seeing them really trying to catch every wild Pokemon would be better.
