In Hoenn he lost in the quarter finals despite reaching this stage in Johto.
I don't know if he will ever win a league, but maybe this is the time.
Also, I checked that if he will lose this league, the next league will be in 2017 or 2018, because the next generation will start in 2014, which means we will wait at least 6 years.

My bet- he will lose in the finals.

He will lose in the finals. That's what I say, but not what I wish to happen.

I think he will lose in the finals. But losing in the semifinals (without using his pre-BW pokemon) is conceivable as well.

There are a number of things they could do. They could delay him further by having another repeat placing and have him lose in the semis, they could have him progress at least once and go on to the finals, only to lose it, or HE. COULD. GO. ALL. THE. WAY!!!! Make no mistake, DP showed us Ash has what it takes to win a league, although I am not sure if BW will let him. As long as they don't decide to downgrade him, we should be fine. We've all had this song and dance before. They clearly intend for Trip to be the epic battle this time. From how things are going, he is an evil that must be conquered. Make of that what you will.

There is a chance he will not even pass the semi finals. Which would be shame, because in the Sinnoh league they showed Tobias beating the guy in the finals pretty easily without losing Darkrai, so Ash was stronger than that guy. Ash has to get the final stage at least.

Actually, there are 2 options:

- Ash (who battles somone in the finals) will be interupted by N. The castle will appear and everyone is in danger. Iris and Cilan will stop the 7 sages and Ash will battle N and his Zekrom, versus Ash and Reshiram (or in a diffrent way).

- I'm actually positive, that Ash will win, and will battle the elite four, but will travel more. (Start of Gen 6 series)

I think he'll win. The only reason Ash got into the Semifinals was to show the next trainer couldn't even take out Tobias' Darkrai, which really meant Ash was second best in the tournament.

However in Kanto and Johto his victor lost the next round so losing to Tyson who won the tournament was an improvement. So Ash improved every league and since he lost to Tobias who uses lengendaries that is double improvement in Sinnoh so Ash may win however losing to TRIP shows he will only make it to the finals

Well, I can't give a solid answers because of several reasons;

I don't think he'll lose because the league will probably be "N-terrupted" and like the game the show will take a TP finale match up.

Like the DP Adventures series, the comics have the main character and his rival battling in the semi-finals but the league is interrupted by Charon's new Neo Team Galactic.

He lost in DP in the semifinals, I don't think they will do it again (though he lost in Hoenn/Johto in Top 8). If he does they won't put in a random player like Tobias.

So far the people I see him against or see at the league are Trip and Bianca.

Only time will tell with future TP events.

I think he will make the finals after beating Trip in the semis. But that is my guess. If he was going to win a league it should have been Diamond/Pearl even though he would be creamed by the elite 4 (he can't give a scratch to their pokemon). And there's going to be yet another generation?? unbelievable :s.

It's possible he might actually win, but if not, I hope he'll at least get close. Maybe it could be a draw or something.

I'm so desperate for him to win something big again, winning the orange league was just unbelievably good Animé. I think this could be the one, but he's got to use the best from all of his team, infernape, charizard, snorlax, sceptile, pikachu and perhaps torterra.
God i want to see charizard again....he would have destroyed that snivy :|

It doesn't matter to me how far he goes I just HOPE he uses pre BW pokemon as well!! who agrees? That is almost a given actually since he always uses older pokemon for his pokemon league battles.

He didn't in Hoenn... though for Hoenn he stated from the beginning he wouldn't do it... and he didn't say that in Unova... who knows
I expect the Unova League to include a lot of old Pokémon used by trainers that came from other regions like Ash - so if they do that, it'd make sense for Ash to use his olds too
But they might also go with the fresh start thing and stick to the Unova team... it's really impossible to predict
What I do hope we get is Ash mentioning Charizard when they see that Charizard bridge (I don't want Chari to appear, just get mentioned by Ash, that will be nice)

If Ash uses his new team only - I assume they'll make him get Top 4 again to show he can do as good with new team as he did with the older ones (just like happened in Hoenn)
If Ash uses his olds too - I expect him to get to the final battle

I think he'll win. The only reason Ash got into the Semifinals was to show the next trainer couldn't even take out Tobias' Darkrai, which really meant Ash was second best in the tournament.

Then why didn't the writers just place him in the finals? It seems a little pointless to me unless the writers wanted to continue this steady progression of Ash's ranking in the leagues.

I think he'll lose in the finals this time. The writers would be recycling old material if they made Ash lose twice in the semifinals because he only used his main Pokémon team in the Unova League like in the Ever Grande Conference where he made it to the quarterfinals for a second time in a row because he used his Hoenn-native captures plus Pikachu only.
