I always do this alot everytime i start a new game.... I'm kinda in a worry since i used to always reference animé counterparts (with May Serena and Dawn (i got Lucinda "italian version" since the game was in italian))

I'm kinda thinking alot what to name to my characters (yeah, i bought both versions). I'm really scared if the game girl pops out like a mushroom in the animé version..

I can still remember that i named in B2W2: kuro, shiiro and the rival haiiro

Let's talk about the name you gave in your characters below!!

I went for 'one that has a very deep meaning' but only cause the others don't fit haha. I used to think up a different name for each character, but since X/Y I just go with my forum name: Soki. Never used my real name though, I just think that's weird somehow, seeing your real name in a game like that. Me not actually liking my name might have something to do with that too:p

Voted "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" because it depends on whether I'm playing as me, or as an independent character.

If it's me, then I just use Amy, since that's my irl nickname.

I like to get theme-y with independent characters. For Gen V, I used temporal names (in White, I played as a girl named Annual, and in White 2, it was a girl named Daily). For Gen VI and VII, I'm using citrus fruits (in XY it was a girl named Tangerine, in ORAS it was a boy named Persimmon, and when I start on Sun, it'll be a girl named Clementine).

I always use Zoraya or Z, which is my name and my nickname, respectively. I save my creativity (or lack thereof) for nicknames for my Pokemon. Alternatively, after having like 36 characters in GuildWars, which all required both a first and a last name, I got really tired of thinking up names :p

Unless it's Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, I just use my real name. They're kinda intended to be an avatar.

I used to take a lot of time on naming my characters but in recent years, I just stick with my own name.

I just go with my real name. On replays, I usually choose a female and name her after whichever girl I'm closest with at the time.

i used to have difficulty naming player characters, however some time ago i started naming them "luma", or some variation of that, after i became slightly obsessed with super mario galaxy. i'm no longer as fixated on it, but i still tend to name my character luma.

Nah. I never gave a lot of thought into the names of the player characters. Either I just go by their canon name (or rather, version name) or name the character after myself, which is what I do nowadays.

Pokemon, on the other hand, are a lot harder to nickname.

I'm a stickler for canon names for a lot of reasons... so naming my character in Moon was stressful without any canon names to use. I ended up defaulting to Moon (playing as a girl, since the boy in the demo was named Sun).

I can never spend less than 10 minutes trying to think up what I want my character to be named. I only rarely use my username as a character name, and I don't particularly have a standby list in reserve to pick from, so I end up having to come up with something from scratch. I try to pick something that sounds like a reasonable personal name: easy to pronounce, and with no obvious meaning or derivation from common words.

Nope! For any RPG where I pick a guy or whatever, I choose my real name because it gives me a sense of attachment to the character and world I am getting. Even though its fantasy, it helps me connect to the relationships I build and makes me feel like that's me even though it obviously isn't!

HAHA, SAME! X3 I use my real name in the Main Games and Ranger and usually a theme for my hero and partner in PMD. When I play Main Games that aren't my main version, I usually name them after the game itself like the Manga. (EX. Diamond and Platinum are my mains named after me; Pearl, I named Pearl and played the opposite gender).

I went with "deep meaning" because none of the other options apply to me. *chuckles* Besides, I never use my real name in anything. I always use other names, though in Pokemon, the most common name I use is Geo (it's my favorite boy name for some odd reason... probably because of Megaman Star Force and my fascination with astronomy). It's also the name of my Pokemon OC from way back, so it kinda sticks. But I will also use other "creative" names for my various version selves. But that about sums it up.

If I'm starting to play a current Gen game, I typically name myself Daniel while doing all I can to grab all of my headcanon usual Pokemon friends. If it's a past game (which I admittedly have not done in a while :p), I like to make up a new identity for the protagonist, save for the Colosseum and XD games where I usually give Wes and Michael their normal names in all caps to fit with their dialogue. Spin-off protagonists usually also have new identities too.

Normally I go with my own nickname, my actual name more rarely.
Coming up with a good name for Mystery Dungeon (for the partner especially) can be a challenge though.

I don't like using my real name and I haven't done so in a looong time. In fact, I always think long and hard about what names I use for my characters. I like giving them headcannons (or backstories) and personalities, because I'm weird like that, and because of that I try to go with different names.

I usually use the same format so one game I name it after myself and the other after my bestfriend, I usually play the game that has my bestfriends name the most.
