Do You Balance Your Team?

When it comes to Pokemon battles, do you tend to balance your team as much as possible? A balanced team consists of having a grass type, a fire type, a water type, and three random types, but if you have two or more Pokemon who share the same typing, then it's not a balanced team because it means it'll have a major disadvantage on a certain type. Since the majority of Pokemon in OU have Steel as a secondary typing, it makes things more difficult to balance out an OU team (sure you can use lower tier Pokemon in the fray, but they'll cost your chances of winning). This is why I never use weather-based teams.

My main team that I make for the game? Nope. My White team consists of Victini, Cobalion, Zekrom, Darmanitan, Unfezant and Samurott. My Black and Grey team probably won't be any better. I've made teams based off of different Game/Anime/Manga characters and they tend to be more balanced. Really the only fully balanced team I ever had was in Emerald. Blaziken, Swampert, Sceptile, Metagross, Swellow and Rayquaza.

I always WANT a balanced team, but all to often I just don't like certain pokemon and can't stand to have them on my team. I'm working on getting my team to level 100 in White Version right now. After that i'll make a new balanced team to see how it compares.

Depending on the opposing team (Random Wifi) I can swap between using a sandstorm team, to sort of piggybacking off the ever popular rain teams with Rotom-W (Thunder + Hydro Pump). The only battle the latter was successful in though, the Kingdra didn't even have Swift Swim. I would like a team that is able to piggyback from most weather conditions as well as swapping it around.

I try to, but in my platinum, I have 2 water types (Empoleon and Golduck) but the Golduck on my team is has Brick Break and Rock Smash to deal with Steel Types

In SS, I absolutley always have my Arbok with me. To paraphrase, I like to win with my favourites so I just rotate 5 of the 20+ Pokemon I have trained to being at a reasonably high level (the spread is 55-87 at the moment), and the final spot is for whichever Pokemon I happen to be training at that time. Currently, it's Pinsir.

Yes, my teams consist in pokémons that have advantage against the gym leaders and elite 4.
But it's very rare to don't repeat a type (normally water), but when my team type reapeat I look for the second type.
My diamond team consists in Torterra, Gastrodon, Weaville, Honchkrow, Pachirisu and Chimecho.

No, I don't always have a Fire, Water and a Grass-type in my team. (I almost always have a Water-type though).
But I try to never have two Pokemon with the same type, so my team is pretty balanced most of the time, with good coverage.

I have fun figuring out a team that's good against every one-type pokemon. So I don't always have grass/water/fire. But yeah. I'd say my teams are balanced. It's kind of cool, actually, you can have a team good against every one-type pokemon with three or four pokemon, if you spend enough time poring over a type chart and looking for pokemon you like that fit.
But there's no real point to doing that, since I just stick to the main games and those are pretty easy to win.

Well, more now than before (my first Gold team had 4 flying-types...), and my team can usually handle most situations. I do tend to vary between offense and defense, though it's usually most beneficial to go for a strong offensive core in-game, as focusing on broad coverage and strong moves really takes care of most situations.

I don't really see the point of balance with in-game teams. Any in-game team can take everything on if it's leveled high enough - something I like to think I proved with my Watchog solo run. My current in-game team has 3 Pokémon weak to Flying-type moves, but I managed to get past Skyla's Gym by having a highly leveled Sigilyph and spamming STAB moves. It's probably a lot easier to play the game with a balanced team, but I like playing through stories with a team full of Pokémon I like - I save the team building and strategy for competitive battling.

I have two bug types on my team because Volcarona and Scolipede are both awesome. Basically, my teams consist of whatever I like most out of what I can get my hands on. Who needs balance when you can have coolness?

Yes. Or at least I try my hardest to do it,
but somehow, NO MATTER WHAT,
half and I mean 3 Pokémons; end up to be weak against rock/stealth rock...
God damn I...I...I've actually given up by now...

Yeah, I'm not so great at balancing my team....
I like electric types.... And normal types. I play the game where I just catch and train whatever I think is cool.
It doesn't make for a very balanced team....At all. :p

My ou team is: Gorebyss, Ferrothorn, Haxorus, Scizor, Vaporeon and Scizor. And my team for walking here and three is : Zekrom, Reshiram, Dragonite, Scrafty, Zoroark and Accelgor. Neither of those teams is balanced.

Not in the strict "Fire, Water, Grass" way, there are way better team cores than that. I try to make sure each member's weaknesses have an appropriate resistor who can take a hit for them.

I always balance my teams, both in-game and metagame.

A majority of one of my teams is weak to Fire and the other one is weak to Fighting though... so it's not a perfect balance.

My current White team is: Samurott, Liligant, Excadrill, Braviary, Thundurus and Victini.

Usually I don't have a grass type, I'm not fond of them, in fact Liligant is my first grass type since Bulbasaur in Firered and Sceptile in Emerald (back when both games were new).

Nah. My Pokes both in-game and competitive have no connection between them. I just take one or two Pokemon which best suit my style and then rotate the rest and experiment.
