Do you dress like how you need to, how you can or how you enjoy?

So this might need some explaining.

Being a guy whom is rather tall, (over six foot (>182cm)) and whom enjoys his country's naturally crazy cold Winters but is living the just getting by kinda life, I find myself simply wearing what I can. A simple hoodie or long sleeve, pants, the norm.
It's how I am stuck dressing.

But I can't help but like the more...almost lighter, or rather, comfortable clothing. For example, I'd love to be able to wear a set of mage robes. The ones that have long coats, possibly a caplet, just something more akin to that. There is also the more...er...femaleish pieces of clothing that look like that they'd more enjoyable to wear. I'd like to be able to walk around dressed like that but even in a country where you're not really frowned upon or looked down at for doing so, I feel shy doing so. I'm not saying I want to look girly, but more I enjoy clothing that's different or out there than the norm.

What do you guys, gals and mons think?
I know it's a weird question, but I thought it might be fun to ask~

For me it is a mix. I generally don't go out of my way to look a certain way. I try to be comfortable in most day to day activities. That being said I don't go too far out of the norm. I don't wear name brands, and i wear a bunch of video game shirts and normal shorts from walmart. A lot of people around me are super fashionable. Only the finest name brands down to the socks. They look nice but I don't have the money for it and it seems uncomfortable either way.

I was raised to dress practically and warmly, because one never knows what is going to happen next and being caught in a fiery car crash while wearing synthetics is a good recipe for having it melt onto your skin.

At home, I wear whatever is going. This variates with the temperatures, but largely limp t-shirts, flattering pants (hah) and currently dressing gowns over the top. This has the accumulative effect of making me look like I just got out of bed, and this is probably because I usually have.

When I go out, it is always good-quality stuff in unusual colours. I like to be noticed but when people stare at you... it makes you wish you could use Tien's Sun Flare move or whatever from DBZ and temporarily blind them all. But no matter what I am wearing, it is always practical... always.... *sighs heavily and goes back to bed*

Eh, it's more of form than function. I mean, a lot of my clothes is pretty basic, but I don't pay much attention. I just know that I only really wear the clothes I like, and though there are times when it's like 60 degrees outside, with the wind it actually feels like 30, and it's in these moments that I wish I'd brought a scarf.

SO-LAR... FLARE!

I wish I could dress more stylishly, but uh, we're pretty broke right now, so it's not a priority. Most of my clothes are old, ill-fitting, or I've just lost my taste in them. So I usually just wear some sporty-ish, practical light clothes. A tanktop and some shorts like 95% of the time, since I rarely leave the house anyway. If it gets cold in here, I'll put on my red fluffy bathrobe on top of that, which actually feels quite pleasant.

When I'm planning on going out somewhere new that might have really cold air conditioner, I'll put on some pants real quick and a sleeved button shirt or a sweater. (It's hot here, so there's no need for heavy clothes, which I'm glad for. I absolutely hate being bulked down.) Basically, I just dress how I need to and how I can.

Hopefully one day, when the money is a thing, I can redo my wardrobe.

I'm mostly casual and when there is no dress code, I will dress casually.

If the occasion requires me to dress formally, I will dress according to the dress code. I don't care for wearing dresses, but if the occasion calls for it, I'll have to, *ahem*... dress up. My last job allowed casual wear as far as jeans and tennis shoes were allowed, but I had to wear their stupid company t-shirt to show I was an employee and I was not allowed to wear baseball caps unless it was the company's.

But yeah, I prefer casual and I will dress as casually as much as I can if the occasion allows it.

Seasonal wear is a different breed. I love wearing sweaters, but even when the nights are frigid, I'll wear a light t-shirt and shorts. I just don't like sleeping feeling too snug, even during north Nevada winters when I lived there. South Texas winters are much more milder, yet same thing. Sometimes the nights can get below freezing and I still prefer light t-shirts and shorts.
