Do you find it odd how little Brock's team has changed this generation?

Brock's team of Croagunk, Sudowoodo and Happiny has remained the same over the course of this entire generation. He got no new captures, no evolutions, no nothing.

Even back in AG we saw more changes to Brock's team over the course of a region:

- Lotad evolved into Lombre and then again into Ludicolo in Hoenn
- Mudkip evolved into Marshtompt in Battle Frontier
- Brock swapped Ludicolo for a new Bonsly capture


Meanwhile in DP, it seems like the writers gave him the new Pokemon they wanted to and then....that was it. His team has not changed at all since 2007 when Happiny hatched. I realize Croagunk gets a lot of screentime, but I find it rather odd the writers simply "gave up" so to speak in bringing changes to Brock's Pokemon over the course of a saga.

I thought for sure Brock would get a Blissey to advertise HGSS...but I guess that isn't happening at this point.
 
Yeah, I find it really strange. The last Pokemon Brock got was the Happiny he hatched from the egg. I don't even know why the writers aren't giving him new Pokemon as of now.
 
Who's Brock? Is he that kid with the glass and blue hair who was battling with Lyra against Ash and Dawn in the latest episode?
 
I don't. He's so ignored, he don't need them anymore. Even current pokemon he had is way too much for him: Sudowoodo is most ignored pokemon of the show...EVER!

Sudowoodo didn't fare any worse than Vulpix, Crobat, or Pineco/Foretress.

Nearly all of Brock's Pokemon except for Onix and Croagunk get ignored in their respective regions.

Yes it is. Vulpix on the main cast in less episodes. Pineco allways had appearances in background. Even Crobat had something...

I think you're probably right. I used to adore sudowoodo before it was even introduced into the anime. I had a sudowoodo yoyo XD . It's such a shame, but i'm not surprised because Brock Is ignored never mind his Pokemon. He's a sudoleadcharactero

It's unfortunate Brock's team is so constant this saga. I really, really HATE Croagunk, so that really only leaves Happiny for me to care about.

What I find odd is that they've saddled the dude with two potentially hillarious pokemon, namely the hyperactive dancing mexican duck and the rock hard maracca tree thing, and they didn't do anything with them. I mean, damn, he's had Sudowoodo for ages, and has yet to tantilise his tastebuds! Talk about backwards! Talk about off-topic, even!


I also find it odd that, for a character that everyone supposedly loathes/finds boring, he seems to recieve a hell of a lot of threads.

Also, 5. 5 is odd.
 
AG (Hoenn) consisted of Forretress, Mudkip, and Lotad-Lombre-Ludicolo.

AG (BF) consisted of Forretress, Mudkip-Marshtomp, and Bonsly.

Sinnoh consists of Bonsly-Sudowoodo, Croagunk, and Happiny.

It's all about even. 2 captures/2 evolutions vs. 1 capture/1 evolution vs. 2 captures/1 evolution.
 
It's not that odd. Other than catching another pokemon and switching it out with the current 3 (considering Brock can't handle more than 3 pokemon). There's not a lot of room for change for Brock's team.

Sudowoodo is fully evolved. Croagunk is a mascot that the writers may not want evolved. So Happiny is the only that could evolve and bring something new to Brock's team. However, the writers haven't evolved it and I don't know if they will or not.

And I don't think the writers, at least at this stage of the series, will let Brock get another pokemon. So yeah, compared to other seasons, it might be weird for Brock to not have many changes. But considering this team doesn't have a lot of room to change/evolve, it's understandable.
 
What I find odd is how determined the writers are to handicap Brock with such a small team. It peaked at five Pokemon during Johto, but hasn't exceeded three since Season 6 began. I almost wonder if some of the writers hate Brock and are trying to destroy any respect we might still have for him. Well, those writers can [redacted for the sake of decorum], know what I'm sayin'?
 
Do I find it odd? No, Brock is not concentrated much on. In retrospect, we probably should be surprised he got anything at all. They made it interested whenever his pokes did pop up, though. Except for Sudowoodo, who lost all personality. It's feeling almost as if the writers gave him pokes simply because they felt obligated to do so. I pity him in the coming new region unless the writers have an epiphany or something.
 
Well they stopped focusing on Brock don2t be surprised if they replace him next season which would be quite sad
 
Nah, I think he's find with the Maraca Tree, Kululu, and Superbaby, especially his Kululu who has the most presence on his team as his main Pokemon. I really couldn't think of another Sinnoh or Johto Pokemon that could have fit with Brock's team. Besides I have come to the conclusion that Brock is just some prop Ash keeps around so he doesn't starve himself whenever he's out on his adventures.

Though on a serious note I am surprised that Happiny didn't evolve even once through out the run in Sinnoh, but I guess Brock needs a baby to take care of ever since Bonsly evolved into Sudowoodo.
 
I like Croakunk and Happiny alot. I just wish he used Happiny more, she's amazing. Like I said in another thread, I do hope he goes back to having one of the starters.
