Which do you prefer as far as battling goes?

I like Pikachu just for the sake that he's the mascot. Other than that, special pikachus like the shiny Shokotan version and the ones from Yellow Forest are still able to evolve into Raichu, I think.

Raichu. Bulkier and faster.

Raichu. Bulkier and faster.

Technichly slower, but only slightly. And It look awsome!
* If With mah future Pokewalker, If a Get a Shiny Surfing Pikachu with a modest nature, I'll use it.

Pikachu has base 90 speed, raichu has base 100
*I think*

He's.... He's right! I never knew that!

Dammit anime! Don't teach us bad things!

Aim for the horn my ass.

Re: Pikachu /w/ Light Ball, or Raichu?

Raichu is cuter.
I use one in my main party in both Platinum and Red :XD: (In Red it is the first electric type I caught this round, but in Platinum I caught her in the Trophy Garden and replaced Luxray with her (well I changed between the two for a while) just so I could have one:B

Re: Pikachu /w/ Light Ball, or Raichu?

Pikachu @ Light Ball only has +20 Atk and +10 SpAtk. Not really what I'd call 'worth it'. Just give Raichu a Magnet, or better yet, leftovers. :p

Re: Pikachu /w/ Light Ball, or Raichu?

I wouldn't really recommend either for OU. With light ball, Pikachu has a base speed of 90, SpA of 100, Atk of 110, and defenses not worth mentioning. The attack and special attack is not bad, but there's plenty that can just outspeed it and take it out. There are also faster pokemon that have comparable base attack and special attack, and have the luxury of being able to hold another item (I'm looking at you, Infernrape..).

Raichu has a little more bulk and a little more speed for a slight power reduction, but it's still outclassed by a lot of other pokemon.

That's just for OU though, I can't really speak for UU.

Re: Pikachu /w/ Light Ball, or Raichu?

I never play wifi cos i know i'd get my arse kicked (I like to play around and try my own stuff instead of just using tried and tested movesets)plus who has the time to ev train?

So in my probably pointless opinion Raichu is better because a Raichu holding most items has more to offer than Pikachu and unless your clever everyone will know what your planning with Pikachu. I like the idea of Raichu with thunder, focus blast, grass knot and nasty plot/toxic holding wide lens although I doubt it'd get chance to do anything in a proper battle.

Re: Pikachu /w/ Light Ball, or Raichu?

Personally, I use Raichu because it's faster and has better base stats than Pikachu.

Re: Pikachu /w/ Light Ball, or Raichu?

I personally like to use Pikachu. The one I use is a staple among my battling Pokemon, and for good reason.

Re: Pikachu /w/ Light Ball, or Raichu?

Definitely Raichu. It is a lot cuter than damn pikachu and has better stats. =)

Re: Pikachu /w/ Light Ball, or Raichu?

I would match rather use Raichu.
Pikachu (even with Light Ball) is bad. Because it has poor defenses, Pikachu can get killed in one attack. (Just pray that Static kicks in). Even if it uses a full-bodied Volt Tackle, it'll probably receive 1/3rd of its HP bar damaged.
Raichu has better stats than Pikachu especially in defense and speed. With all that aside, there are much better non-uber electric types out there.

sure.
but taking advantage of priority is a key way to use Him. Fake out Light ball pikachu hits hard. and Quick attack to finish off the foe, it can be deadly.

Actually you have an interesting point there. Considering Pikachu would only have to resort to Quick attack if he was slower (or if the other pokemon had priority) you could still hit ridiculously hard with volt tackle after the fake out.

Plus the only other pokes I can think of that has the fakeout + priority combination in UU (not counting suckerpunch which opens up alot more potential users) is Purugly and Hitmontop and I think Hitmontop using technician is the only one who has argueably as much skill with it as pikachu. Max attack pikachu with lightball is a go!

Re: Pikachu /w/ Light Ball, or Raichu?

Definitely. Here's My Pikachu:

Adamant / Light Ball / Static
- Volt Tackle
- Brick Break
- Quick Attack
- Fake Out
252 Attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP

Fake Out and Quick Attack are wonders here!

I like that set, is Rotom a big problem for it? Can't think of too much else that you wouldn't get much damage on (although I'm not doing the calcs to find out). Does it run into much hassle?
