Do you miss any character from the pokemon anime?

I’m still in the denial phase of grief for the TRio, just hanging around here like a bad penny waiting for the announcement of a special or movie or anything…
 
No, I don't miss any character from the anime but I wish Ash used some of his reserves in the M8 tournament, along with a real battle between Ash and Paul. Ash could use his JN team while Paul uses Torterra, Electivire, Ursaluna, Garchomp, Gyarados and Metagross.

Sure, we can all do that, but there’s no new story being told with them. Rewatching its not the same as when the anime is giving you new fresh content with characters you like and before anyone says anything, this post it’s not a jab against Horizons or anything like that.
 
Mmm, well, while that's true, Horizons... is not in the same continuity as the the og series, so I can see why we're not getting new stories for them. Even still, I don't really miss any of the old characters from the previous anime.

I want Friede (i don't think i spelled that right) back tho. Dude went missing....or something last time I heard.

And I’m not debating that. I’m just asking if people miss anyone, that’s all.
 
May and Max got ROBBED in Journeys, so many ways they could have been implemented and they got less than the bare minimum :cry: In general the AG era of the anime felt extremely underrepresented as Steven was based around his XY appearance.

Officer Jenny, the decline in her role technically started in late XY but she was always a fun addition to have around as a female figure of authority and gave us great jokes and moments.

With Ash, Pikachu and Team Rocket I wouldn't call it exactly "missing" since I watch episodes with them regularly and I think their time had come, but there are always doubts in my head regarding how they could have been implemented in Gen 9 and how their stories could have ended better.
 
I think people fantasize about the "idea" of old characters returning more than when they actually appear, perse. For example when characters actually DO gets cameos over the show, usually the writers do not do what people wanted/speculated about in their headcanons or fanfictions for years (or decades) between the character returning. And then people feel disappointed, because their headcanons or fanfics they made up in their minds for years did not happen in the show over whatever the writers did with the characters.

For example if Ash's series was still going, and we actually got old characters continuing to return, it most likely still would not satisfy everyone even if it was their favorite returning.

Why should the situation with May’s voice actress also affect Max? He may be her brother, but he’s also his own person with his own goals and interests.

If they need someone for him to be with, just bring back Norman or Caroline.
