Do you prefer Sailor Moon from the 90’s or Sailor Moon Crystal?

In terms of the story and the Artstyle. Which one do you prefer?

In terms of art style I prefer the 90s version. The character designs are generally very pretty. The first Crystal season's art style looks strange, the eyes are too big and the limbs are too long in my opinion. Season 3's art style looks fine and the movies' art style looks stiff. However, some things look better in Crystal. For example, in the 90s, some of the senshi's costumes were too dark (Jupiter and Neptune).

Animationwise, I'm also leaning towards the 90s version but let's be honest, animation has never really been this franchise's forte...

In terms of the story, it's complicated. The 90s version changed a lot of things from the manga, sometimes it was good/okay (more characterization for the minor villains, some very good anime exclusive scenes like Sailor Moon and Chibiusa falling in SuperS, some funny filler episodes...) but most of the times, it was just bad : Rei's personality, Rei and Mamoru's romance, Nephrite and Naru's romance (wtf...), Black Lady's lackluster story, an extremely repetitive format especially during the last season, that had barely anything in common with the manga.
And the problem is that Crystal tried to follow the manga more closely but it didn't adapt everything : the special chapters (there's a lot) were never animated even though they add a lot to the characters' backgrounds and personalities. I also remember some unecessary additions in the first Crystal season.
I just prefer the manga's story.

In terms of aesthetic sensibility and comfort viewing pretty much nothing will ever beat the 90s Sailor Moon anime for me. The color palettes, the backgrounds, the overall art style, character designs, and character wardrobes are simply unmatched. It’s one of those shows where any given frame just looks so stylistically great to me that I would use it as a background image, haha.

And I just can’t get past this for Crystal. I’ve tried watching Crystal a couple times but like. It just feels kind of like it’s missing the heart that the original series had, stylistically.

And, all of this is to say
I just prefer the manga's story.
I’m realizing that I’ve never actually read the manga and I think it’s probably about time I sought it out and fixed that. It’s probably the only thing that will ever live up to or have the ability to eclipse my love of the original anime which has felt completely untouchable for years and years.
