Do you prefer the 4kids/PUSA themes or the originals?

The openings and endings.
Technically the opening for the dubs are also the endings.

As much as I love the dub openings, the JPN one seem far better. "Spurt" is one of my favorite anime intros ever. I wish my DVD was able to play region 2 DVDs.
 
Most of the time I prefer the originals. I mean, look at the new JP theme for Pokemon, "Saiko Everyday". It's a lot better and more lively then the themes made by 4Kids/PUSA and even some JP themes, IMO.
 
I prefer the dub openings because the original OP never really sounded so good to me.

But the most is both suffer from bad animation, or sub-par at the most.
 
Japanese opening mainly due to how the clips and sound work well together.

Otherwise music wise ignoring clips I actually have to be different and say I do really like the songs that are used in some of the italien themes.

Also I admit to also really really liking the movie version of the 12th season theme tune of TCPI's dub and also like 4th seasons theme tune of 4kids dub.=)


So I guess I'm all over the place.
 
The TPCi ones are the only ones I've ever been able to stand, with the sole exception of Spurt.
 
My favorite is the first one, Gotta be a Pokemon Master. Nothing else has been so meaningful.

Pokemon openings as a whole are not to my taste, as mostly females sing them, and I tend to like songs males sing more, like Believe in Nexus. Also Pokemon OP are not known for having super animation, unlike that of the anime posted above, who are.
 
originals of course. just cant beat "aim to be a Pokemon master" by Rica Matsumoto

The Japanese company made "High Touch", one of the most unique anime songs/openings of all time. What about 4Kids/PI? They are extremely repetitive and derivative.

Whoever let Pokerap GS see the light of day (let alone allow it to become the theme to something) should be locked in a room with it playing on a loop for the rest of eternity.

Most of the dub opening themes aren't that bad, though. There are some originals I like more than their dub counterparts (Battle Frontier/Spurt) and some dub ones I like more than the Japanese counterparts (Believe in Me/We Will Be Heroes/Stand Up!). So I don't really have a clear favourite.

You have a good point that the PI made songs for DP were better than the last few 4Kids did. But the Battle Frontier dub song blew. It sickened me.

LOL, I have heard better 5 years ago. Have you ever heard Folly Cooly ending? Or Bleach OP 1?
 
Both have hits, both have misses. Saitou Everyday is really good though !

*Yawn* Pseudo-rap/jrock/slow melody < girl & boy from the anime actually singing together and doing it in an upbeat, positive manner.

Other animes usually have some guy screaming or some woman sounding sad in their intros.

Nothing special, do not brag about it. There are much better openings out there. It is not unique, others have things like that too.

You are listening to Japanese music. If you do not understand Japanese, it usually all sounds the same (jingles different, but the words). And do not claim otherwise unless you can understand it.

Nobody is saying they will win a Grammy. Just that its very unique, especially for an anime of its type. Didnt see other openings like that either.
 
I grew up watching the English dub, so I didn't see the Japanese openings. However, if I had a choice, I'd go with the PUSA themes.
 
It's a close fight, but the Japanese take over. Some really good dub ones, though, are This Dream/We Will Be Heroes/Stand Up! Although I prefer the 4kids ones extremely slightly better. I like how Gotta Catch 'em All! sounds like Gotta Catch the mall! (at least to me) or The stream lasts forever instead of This dream lasts forever.
 
The Japanese ones, especially "Challenger." Haven't heard much of the current D&P one, and the previous one is meh... But in any case, I still like the original theme songs more.

The 4Kids ones come in second for me.

The TPCI ones are... meh to me, too. I do wanna hear the opening they have for the new season, but that's because I'm a curious person, not because I expect to like this one a lot. But for having a women sing some of the theme songs is a change I can't ignore, so I'll give them that.
