If you look at game artwork and sprites you'll see that certain Pokemon look quite different from their game counterparts, especially Meowth and Pikachu.

To note Meowth specifically, unlike their anime counterparts, they seem far less anthromorphic. They walk different, for example, and seem less visually expressive.

what they look the same

No. There are several differences. The best I can think of at this moment are Pikachu and Meowth.

Game!Pikachu (and presumably Raichu and Pichu, I haven't compared them) are..More round. It's body isn't divided into as many parts too.

Game!Meowth are..They always have that cat-like expression, they behave more cat-like, and they walk more like cats trying to walk (slumped, bended paws in front, etc) rather then like a sapient human.

anime usually has better poses, but I guess I have to say games. Sugimori is quite the artists and they all look cool.

Deffinitely games. The anime makes them seem less cute somehow. I think back in the day when there were hand-drawn cells the Pokemon looked better than they do now, actually.

since this pertains to more than one section, I'm going to move this to the pokemon world forum.

really, they all kinda vary between and within every medium, be it different animation directors or the general style of the animation slowly changing over the years, or the sprite upgrades with each generation of games (or even the different sprites found between versions of the same generation), they're all somewhat altering in some ways (though they all undoubtedly have their roots attributed to the designs Sugimori's artwork). Personally, I think most of the differences are too subtle to matter (and some, like Pikachu slimming down and looking less hamster-like over the years, seems to have spread across all mediums of the entire franchise), but given the choice, I'd owe it to the original Sugimori designs (with some exceptions, like the entire Kimori line, whom look kinda lax in his drawings compared to the badass portrayal they got in the anime... though, that really seems to apply to just the one Satoshi has, so you could say it's a specimen-by-specimen case).

If I could choose the designs in any medium, though, my favorite is undoubtedly the realistic designs drawn by Toshihiro Ono in his Dengeki! Pikachu manga. I also enjoy some of the 3D renditions on card game cards, certain game box art (Pokemon Stadium ^^), or the playables in Smash Bros. Brawl. I'd give a special mention to the designs in the Japanese Red and Green versions, as well. While I can't say I prefer all of them, I do enjoy them for having that kind of wacky charm you'd expect from 8-bit portables of the day.

Game Pikachu looks fat but usually the games look better. The amine has a way if making intimidating pokemon look stupid

i prefer the game designs

more realistic in the 3D games with the movement

and more animal like

i think in the anime they act too much like humans

They are much more anthropomorphic in the anime then in the other medias. In the games they're basically regular animals with powers and more expressive emotions.

machoke has purple skin on games and it's different to its grey skin on anime.
