Just like anime, everyone has a first manga they ever read.

What was the first Japanese manga you ever read? Don't include Western graphic novels or comic strips like Marvel or Garfield.

Mine was Star Ocean: Second Story. But the series never continued after the 7th volume. I started reading One-Piece and Naruto after that. Ah the memories.

I'm pretty sure mine was Pokemon Adventures. I think I read one of those really large volumes that only covered a couple of chapters in a book store and then I got the first four volumes of the series at another store sometime after that.

That would be Pandora Hearts. I really should start reading it again...

i'm forfty percent sure that it was The Electric Tale of Pikachu. i know the monthly issues were the first manga of my own that i owned (i still have them. they're beat to hell!!! so i have extra copies for the collection :D) i really don't know if i read anything else before that...probably not. i know one kid in my class had a Pokémon Adventures book and i was horribly jealous but i don't know if i peeked at it before or after EToP, haha.

Mine was Mars. After reading that I went kinda crazy with manga and started reading anything and everything I could.

I'm not sure, but I think it was either The Electric Tale of Pikachu or the series X-Day (which I'd received as a present).

Ehhh... it was an issue of Shonen Jump that I ordered during a school-wide book order wayyyy back.

As for what I read first? Either it was that chapter of Yu-Gi-Oh where the Pharaoh makes a spray-paint maze and lights it on fire to "punish" some extortionists, or one of the chapters of Dragon Ball Z just after the fight against #17 and #18.

A chapter of HG/SS. I don't have it anymore, I gave it to mah friend in exchange for a DS Lite. :D

Technically mine was The Electric Tale of Pikachu... I got a promotional issue at the Pokémon 2000 Stadium Tour.
But back then I didn't know what manga was and I had just assumed that I was reading a comic book. My actual first manga (that I was aware of) was probably an early issue of (American) Shonen Jump. I bought it for the Yu-Gi-Oh! but then I started reading the One Piece and some other stuff as well.

Well, I can't remember if it was 'Death Note' or Vampire Knight. One of those two.

I don't even know. It was either Yu-Gi-Oh!, something from Shonen Jump, or something else that I'd have no reason to remember. I think it was probably Yu-Gi-Oh!:bounce:.

Pokémon Adventures/PokéSpe, although I wasn't aware it was separate from the anime I was familiar with (I couldn't figure out how "Ash" had an Ivysaur.)

The first manga I read that I was aware was manga was probably Inuyasha.

First time I read a manga I was in kindergarten. My bro always came home from school later than me, so I would "borrow" his Dragon Ball comics. The crass humor was my first introduction to human sexuality.
