Do you still buy strategy guides?

I was going to start this in the Pokemon section, but figured it would be better here, since mostly all games have strategy guides. With the advent of the internet, and of course, Bulbapedia, there doesn't seem to be much use for strategy guides anymore. Myself, I haven't bought a strategy guide since Platinum, but I am 100% getting the official guide for ORAS since I had the original guide for the original games and Emerald.

What about you guys? Still into the strategy guide business?

I almost always buy the strategy guide for all my games. I like having the book in front of me by my console because it keeps me from getting distracted. Anytime I try and use an online guide I get side tracked by something else like Facebook. I also just really hate that most guides I find online either give full spoilers for my game or leave out small but important pieces of information. I have only purchased one guide that I wished I hadn't. The SouthPark guide was FILLED with typos, wrong screen shots, and incorrect information.

No, unless it has a poster or something else to go with it, like the last one I purchased had. (RE4 with double-sided poster, two times the Leon. <3)
I wouldn't turn down a free one though. (I got my TTYD one for free from Nintendo Power.)

Yep, I buy as many guides as I can! They tend to come with posters, they're good for when you're going somewhere and won't have internet for awhile, and the pictures make understanding the directions easier. I find online guides to be hard to follow at times because they always lack pictures.

Never. The answer to my problem is always online for free. Not wasting money and space on something I should only need to refer to a few times.

Never actually bought one. If I want help, I'll look it up. Youtube is the best way really since you can copy what they do step by step.

I used to buy them when the internet wasn't a huge thing, and while I do not buy them as often, I'll still buy guides just to get the posters and any other neat things they come with, but I stay the hell away from Prima guides. I remember this Gold and Silver Prima guide I had in 2000 that was really unhelpful. It would withhold certain Pokemon names and other vital information, which I thought was a douchebag move considering that I paid for that guide if I needed help. Not all guides were like that and I found a few to be really helpful with difficult games, but damn, the Pokemon Prima guides were some of the most unhelpful things around and were a big waste of money.

Stopped buying guides when I found out about GameFAQs, my go-to source for guides, cheats, etc.

By the time I even realized that official strategy guides existed my family had Internet in our house, sooo... (Not exactly sure how I spent the 90s and early 00s not knowing official strategy guides existed, but okay. And of course I wasn't gonna trust shady-looking unofficial guides.)

Yes, but only for Pokémon games. In the realm of Pokémon, however, I have one for pretty much every game I've played, with the only ones I don't have one for being (I think) Ranger 1, Red/Blue and PMD: Gates to Infinity.

I don't think I've ever purchased a strategy guide. I don't need to read a book to enjoy a game, I figure everything out myself (or with help from YouTube videos). The only strategy guide I own was given to me, along with the game (Pokemon Battle Revolution).

Not anymore. Don't see the need for them when the internet can tell you everything you need to know.

Not really.Though,I should try to find a GS:The Lost Age one just in case I can't get wifi. And my sister isn't around.

That's going to be hard.

I never buy strategy guides, ever.
Since they're £15 there's no way in hell I'll ever buy one.

I usually buy strategy guides for Pokemon games, mostly because I'm into competitive and I like to speed through the main story as fast as possible. I know most of the info is freely available online, but it's easier for me to have it at my fingertips in a book rather than searching things up on my computer. I also enjoy them as collector's items. For most other games I like to wing it.

Used to when I was a kid. Now I just look up Bulbapedia etc.

Nope. I prefer playing a game blind on the first run then learning all the secrets on the second run which I usually tend to just look up.

Nope, they became a waste of money once I found out that you could get even more information for free over the internet.

Yeah I usually get strategy guides when I think they'll be helpful but I only use them to give me help when I need it. Although I still read the walkthrough for parts I don't need help on for fun just not while I'm playing. Also I don't like to get Prima guides if I can avoid it because parts of them tend to be inaccurate.

Well never bought strategy guides since I always used the Internet for aid in how to finish/do things in some Pokémon games and usually other RPGs I have on my PS3 like Fallout 3, The Elder Scrolls etc.
