Do you think Ash's Hoenn Pokemon will eventually be forgotten?

Do you think Ash's Hoenn Pokemon will be forgotten/ignored as the show continues?

Let's pretend for a moment there won't be any R/S remakes. This thread is not to debate whether there will or not, (you can do that in the game section), but I wonder...does Ash ever have a reason to use his Hoenn Pokemon again? Meaning for them to star, not whatever short cameos they get this league.

It seems to me like Ash's Hoenn Pokemon could wind up being completely forgotten about as the show progresses. They were entirely short-lived in one segment of the anime, which is now a very old saga.

Ash already used Bulbasaur and Bayleef over Sceptile (Brandon fight, and in DP), while he now has Torterra. If he's using unevolved Bulbasaur and Bayleef over Sceptile, and he has a fully evolved Torterra, what point is there to ever see Sceptile again?

Staraptor seems to have taken Swellow's place. Corphish looks like it'll be demoted to comic relief. Torkoal is not a fire starter like Charizard/Quilava/Infernape. And Glalie is just kinda random.

At this point, ignoring the R/S remake theory, I can see Ash's Hoenn pokemon being completely ignored by the writers, or give them tiny cameos but never have them star again.

What do you think?

Who cares? This isn't a topic worth discussing. If the writers decide to keep their memories alive by either having cameo appearances or quick mentions by Ash or others, then they will. If not, they will be forgotten.

I'm just curious if Ash ever has a reason to use them again.

Each gen Ash gets the same grass/fire/water combo, so it makes his older teams feel redundant.

The thing is, Hoenn is such an old saga right now and most people don't even remember Ash's Hoenn Pokemon. What was their impact on the series? I am worried they'll be ignored and forgotten besides brief cameos.

They'll get the spotlight once the R/S remakes come out. Remember, Ash's Kanto 3 were used in Hoenn after FR/LG and Quilava and other Johto pokemon were used after HG/SS.

Well, the fact that Ash used his reserves in this league probably means there is a better chance we'll see them again once the next league comes by.

No, I don't think so. I think it's too early in the league to see whether or not the Hoenn Pokemon will be forgotten.

Uh, biased poll choices much?

I fully expect Sceptile and crew to get some big triumpant moments in the future. They're no more forgotten than the Kanto trio, and we know those guys are going to get their time to shine at some point. I mean, the Johto gang didn't get much spotlight in AG, and they obviously didn't fail to exist. So the Hoenn group's sure to make a comeback eventually.

I agree, I think we'll see more of them next gen.

Do we? I mean, what's the point? Charizard's story is done, Squirtle's story is done, Bulbasaur never really had a stroy to begin with... They got their time in the spotlight against Brandon. So... why bring them back when it wouldn't further them or the story?

I only expect to see them again if Ash challenges the Elite 4 and the Champion (probably of Isshu) and in that case would use all his pokemon once in a battle.

Sceptile and Swellow are pretty cool pokemon. I'm sure they're not going to be forgotten. And Corphish being comic relief means it won't be ignored either because comic relief is always good in the anime.

And Torkoal and Glalie are at least unique enough to be used again in the future as well.

I'm sure we'll see them again. Heck, the writers definitely remember Ash's released pokemon (i.e. Spurt!). So I'm not worried about their appearances.

I think there is a slim chance they will be ignored. I don't think they really choose Pokemon based upon wheter games are coming out. May's Bulbasaur and Dawn's Cyndaquil were sort of in celebration of them coming out, but I don't think they pay much attention. So I think Sceptile and Swellow, and the others, can appear again, wheter there is a remake or not

If there was one team I thought would be ignored and forgotten, it would have been the Johto team.

But since even they got to come back, I'm sure the Hoenn team which actually rivaled Ash's Kanto team in terms of popularity back in the day has a shot.

I actually do see them as forgotten sooner or later. Truth be told besides a few pokemon i never really saw a plot line with each individual pokemon before DP.(I.E Kanto focused more on Ash then his Pokemon). Its only the DP series that seems to have plots for each pokemon. Buneary, Pikachu, Infernape, Gliscor, Crogunk etc. Sceptile and co didn't have a story line focusing on them-self. They might make a couple cameo's but nothing to spectacular.

What's Hoenn?

I jest. I doubt they will ever be forgotten. I mean, some of them came back this year for the league. And Kanto and Johto weren't forgotten.

I think they'll be used in the next league like the Jhoto Pokemon were with this one and some of the Kanto ones were in the Jhoto league.

Even if there are not remakes, I could see them coming back. I'm especially hoping sceptile will get a chance to shine since he's Ash's best grass type IMHO.

I find it weird Ash uses every other grass type over Sceptile. He chose Bulbasaur over Sceptile in BF, and now he choose Bayleef over Sceptile in DP. He also still has Torterra.

Its really messed up. Sceptile was Ash's second fully evolved starter after Charizard, and his most used Pokemon all throughout AG.

To see such a fully evolved powerhouse like Sceptile, a Pokemon that also went through a lot of development....to just be left to waste at Oak's lab leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

It almost feels like Ash's Hoenn team is pointless now. All their hard work has gone to waste. Isn't this the same team that got an entire league to themselves and most of the Frontier Brain battles?

I see where you're coming from :/ But the animators have/had games to advertise and sceptile wouldn't really help much in that.

Of course not, if the writers don't forget the Johto team, then they won't forget the Hoenn team.

It won't be forgotten. Johto wasn't and it was the closest to being so until a few episodes ago.
