Do you think every new character Ash travels with will meet older friends?

Since we're at the end of a generation with new possible characters coming in yet again, do you think the writers have decided not to have every single one of Ash's friends meet each other?

For example, back when AG was airing they actually had every single one of Ash's friends meet, since the group was so small. Ash, Misty, Brock, May, Max and Tracey all met and interacted with each other in certain eps. That was 6 characters, it felt like the main cast was tightly knit and everyone could meet everyone else.

However now, the main cast is growing too large. We're already noticing that Dawn and Misty will probably never meet at this point, and Dawn likely won't ever meet Max and possibly Tracey as well.

On top of that, the new rivals like Paul/Barry never met Gary, and Misty/May probably won't ever know Paul. Dawn also will likely never meet Drew/Harley.

Do you think the writers have given up on having all the major characters be tightly knit and meet each other as a small and controlled cast?
 
It's possible that Misty will show up at the end when Ash goes home to Pallet Town but I highly doubt Dawn will be there unless she stays on for a new arc, which is also unlikely. But if she's there and not staying it could be a stopping point if she decides to travel to Johto, Kanto, or Hoenn.
 
The main cast is getting bigger and bigger every generation, so it's understandable that old main characters won't get as much focus as they used to
Not to mention, plot makes it hard to see characters like Max and Tracey since they're stuck in one place
Misty is a little stuck too but proved she can go out when she wants, so they can make her appear in Isshu if they want

I say that as long as the previous series main characters (in next series they might be Brock and Dawn) get to appear for at least a 2 eps arc (similar to Misty's AG appearance, May's DP apperance) it's OK
Everything other than that is a bonus and should only happen when the plot calls for it
For example, if there's a Wallace Cup style Contest in the next series (assuming BW girl is a Coordinator) I can see both Dawn and May being there
If there's a water type battles tournament, then Misty should appear (and as I said, I want BW series to make some type tournaments every now and then to showcase Ash's older teams once in a while)

There are not similar events for Max or Tracey to participate at and as said they're the most "stuck at one place" of all previous main characters... so I doubt they'll make any major appearance again... a few cameos and short "hey I exist and came to say hello" thing once in a Jirachi, probably in Pallet eps (well, obviously for Tracey, not so obvious with Max... but he can appear in Pallet at the end of DP or BW)

After Brock gets his BW appearance, I think next gens can treat him similar to how Misty/Tracey/Max were this gen... though we don't know what his new dream is, so that might give him some goal that makes him possible to appear for some events...
 
Yes, every generation new characters get added.
So the cast gets bigger and bigger.
Next Generation, Ash and his new friends will meet up with Dawn if she leaves. Maybe mention of May, we have no idea if Misty will be back.
Maybe they've decided to leave her out this saga since she had a lot to do in AG.
 
Yeah, I agree; the cast is getting bigger each generation. Also, it's some sort of tradition (example: Ash and co. meeting up with May in D/P). In Gen V, I expect Dawn to make an appearance.

I'm sure Tracey and Misty going to be there. And May is go for a visit too. After all, we must know about her contest career...

Maybe Tracey, since he is the assistant of Oak.

Misty, less likely because she just made some quick cameos, what's the point of bringing her again to say "good luck" or whatever.

May, I think the writer's gave her enough of remembrance in DP. What more can be said except that she will continue on her quest o be a top coordinator, the details are not important to the show.

Misty is living in Kanto, not far away from Pallet Town. And she and Tracey look very close to each other. If Ash is back to home after four months later, she must visit her or something. Contrary is means retcon only.

May is part of Dawn's journey arc. I still look for a future DawnXMay match.

How about a RitchiexAsh rematch? The writers just forget about things that are no longer necessary, just like the GS ball.

The Kanto reunion gets less and less important every generation. Before it was necessary to show that Ash has a lot of support. They dont need to make that point again.

How? Last Kanto reunion has more important than older ones. And then even there was a little Misty arc...

EDIT: But Dawn and May probably won't have another rematch... That was just a way to bring her back for a few episodes and have a few more contests.

Well, everything we say is just speculation anyway. Writer can make anything for final eps of DP, it is sure.

Im talking about support from the whole "town". He is more mature now (even if he is still 10 officially). Then why are the recent Kanto reunions done with less fanfare? There's no point in repeating things that were just done to have old characters make a few last "guest appearances" before they retire for good.

Doesn't count. In AG they was already make a "Kanto reunion" episode. So they don't need make in the end of BF...

How did that one compare to the one after the Indigo League and Johto? Its showing a steady decline in its importance.
