Do you think HGSS will outsell FR/LG?

I find the hype HGSS is getting by Nintendo themselves much more than FR/LG got.

You'd think remakes of the very original games (FR/LG) would have gotten people more excited than remakes of the sequels. Even before FR/LG came out, I don't remember it being hyped this much.

Do you think HGSS will sell more than FRLG?

Personally I do. I've mentioned the game to alot of my friends and many plan to return to the fandom because of it. I don't know about other places, but where I live GSC made a bigger impact on the first batch of Pokemon fans than RBY. And also there's the factor that we fans literally asked for it, in a sense, it's the game we wanted. Only reason I'd see it wouldn't sell is if didn't bring in anything special we didn't want, but so far everyone has celebrated each bit of new news. <.<

There are thousands of fans who have been begging for years for the remakes, and who praise the second generation above all others (I'm not one of them, but I will still get both of these on release day). This will surely outsell those games.

Short Answer: Yes

Long Answer: Yes, because Gen II brought some new things to the series; it was the dominant generation before it became mostly unusable when Gen III came out (unlike the shift to Gen IV); HGSS has some cool, marketable features; and FR/LG were remakes, HGSS is more than a remake.

Yeah because Blue, Red and Yellow carts still work for the most part, unlike GSC's :p

Yes.
FR/LG was just a remake. Not much more than a graphical update and a somewhat upsetting trading limit. HGSS isn't afraid to add more gimmicks and features to actually make it different.

Definately.
The games are being hyped themselves ever since FireRed and LeafGreen were announced. Fans await to enjoy the adventure in Johto and Kanto once again, and considering that A LOT of old fans returned to the series after Diamond and Pearl, I'm guessing that the games will outsell FireRed and LeafGreen, and I wouldn't be surprised if they outsold Ruby and Sapphire too.

Good question. A lot of people outside the fandom only remember Red, Blue, and Yellow. But I think Gold, Silver, and Crystal were about as famous, and they are receiving significantly more hype and new features.

While FRLG lacked in several departments and had quite a few useless features, to classify it as "just a remake" is still wrong. The Sevii Islands, whatever you say about them, was a pretty nice addition in both content and plot respects, since it filled us up in terms of Lorelei's origins and implies why she's left the Elite Four by the time GSC take place. Likewise, we get more of a lead-in about Team Rocket, which was 100% lacking in GSC. It also ties the characters and stories even more, and gives much-needed character to the Kanto Gym Leaders, which, before the Fame Checker, I found to be the least interesting and developed of all. And let's not forget how it keeps on tying up the suppossed timeline nicely, and links all the Generations up to then together. Also, improvement in Movepools. Yes, it's stupid that they took all this out of Emerald, but still. Plus, fact stands that, outside of Colosseum or XD, FRLG are the best games to level up Pokémon in 3rd Gen. All these games lacked was some more user-friendly features. Namely, all they removed from it that was in RS, should've been in FRLG, regardless of the fact it was a Remake. Clearly, everyone is overhyping HGSS even before it comes out. Quite ridiculous...

Before hoards of people attack me, I'm not saying FRLG are better than HGSS. They're clearly not. I'm just saying to think before you speak. Regardless of FRLG's flaws, and all Pokémon games have'em, they were not a mere aesthetical enhancement. This is annoying and sad, how people can't see things as they are. They tone them all down. But yeah, I shouldn't get worked over because of this. :/

You can see that HGSS will outsell FRLG right off. Just look at the overhyping going on here. But that aside, I can say that they're placing much more effort than what they did in FRLG. Plus, they're a Generation more experienced. I'm going to buy this, myself. After all, it looks like they're giving Johto the content it always deserved at long last, and it seems it'll leave DPP in the dust too. If they can beat the main games of this Generation, they'll definitely beat a remake in the previous Generation. Of course, there's the fact that this is in the DS, which is much more advanced, as well as the fact that GSC were incomplete games, unlike RBY.

A proper question would be would it sell more then platinum in one week which was the first game in Pokemon to ever sell 1M in that week alone. In which I believe yes,yes it will. On remake base hell yes. While fr/lg was good it lacked a flare. This has that flare but it also has another flare a newer one which shows much more then fr/lg does.

thousands?
try MILLIONS

I wouldn't say millions (though I'm not saying it wont reach that many people) but countless thousands yes. Not everyone comes online to openly voice their opinions, and if we got such a huge response about the games from the online communities, I just wonder how many outside of them feel the same way.

To avoid an over-analyzation of this, YES.

Yes because of a few reasons. DP brought in alot of fans and that includes old ones aswell that may pick up HG and SS. Also the overhype will get people to buy.

Though it isn't the sales that I'm interested in but how many of those buyers will feel the games lived up to the hype. That's what I'm concerned with. I'm doing pretty well at the moment because I have managed to keep my hype low still. Which is good for me since I'm sure it'll live up to my expectations.=)

Also aren't there more DSs now then there were GBAs when FRLG came out?

If so if there are more systems in the hands of people that could lead to more potential purchasers.

I doubt 100 million people will buy it. XD

Well, Pokémon FireRed/LeafGreen sold about 11 million worldwide and the original Gold/Silver games sold a little over 14 million. So, I think that HeartGold/SoulSilver can at least match the sales of the original Gold/Silver.
