So I've recently thought about getting back into the card game... I haven't played since just barely before the first Rocket expansion came out. You know, WotC base/jungle/fossile sets?

Not that I care -too- much, but apparently only cards from the introduction of the D/P sets and beyond are "tournament legal" now. If I'm going to spend money on cards again, I'd might as well aim for newer cards. They seem to have a good variety available in the DPt sets anyway.

But I favor Steel types, and I like Jasmine, so I figured I'd use some "Jasmine's ____" cards. Bonus-she has a Jolteon! I -have- to use a Jasmine deck. But they were only released in Japan? I don't mind Japanese cards at all, but like I said, I'm -leaning- toward recent, English ones.

So could someone who follows the TCG give their idea or guess as to whether or not they may release more Johto Gym Leaders' cards anytime soon? Thanks to Heart Gold/Soul Silver and all...

I really don't thibk they'll do HGSS Gym Leader's Pokémon. They stopped doing the cards after the kanto (and maybe johto) ones, and started again now. But did FRLG do that? No.

So, in conclusion, I don't think they'll make them.

As far as the Johto Gym Leaders' cards go... I say probably not. Note that there have been Sinnoh Gym Leaders' cards released in the Rising Rivals expansion. However, I think that we'll possibly see a fifth-generation after the HGSS expansion, which includes no Gym Leader cards.

In that case, I doubt they'll happen for a long time, if ever.

I see. Thank you for your input.

It sounds like I'll probably just stick with "Unlimited" format and get/use whatever cards I darn well please. Which is fine too; all the more reason to replace that Charizard...

From the lack of attention the card game gets, it seems as though not so many people even play it anymore. Of those that do, would they usually even care whether someone uses pre-DP cards or not? Outside of an official tournament setting, of course. Can post and pre-DP cards even be used in the same deck? I know in the Japanese TCG the backs of the cards changed... Aw man, that's right. If I wanted to run a specifically "Jasmine/Mikan" style deck, it'd have to be all Japanese.

I want to get back in but they just can't make it easy, can they?
