Do you think Pokethlon will take contests place?

From Bulbas Wiki it sounds like contests a bit, but more Ash style. Maybe contests will take a back set next generation. Opinions?

If you ask whether Pokethlon will replace Contests in next generation then it belongs to games more than the anime.

The fate of Pokethlon in upcoming generations depends fully on the games. If it replaces Contests permanently then I guess the anime would reflect it as well (unless they don't want the girls to stop watching the show [stereotypical model of thinking, I know. But that's actually the very same model which the animators use]).

And whether the Pokethlon will become the vital part of the anime - it's too early to judge. The upcoming Pokethlon episode will possibly show us whether it's a one-time thing or an actual quest. As of now, any speculation about this is unbased.

Exactly what Maxim said. Besides, they could always make the region girl or boy to compete in Pokéthlon. Though to be honest, I don't think Pokéthlon will be vital part of anime UNLESS it replaces contests in next games.

There is this little thing too. According to Serebii, in HG/SS, Jasmine was speaking with Erika about Super Contests in Sinnoh. IMHO, even if Pokéthlon will continue to be a side quest, it won't replace Contests. It can't. If it did, the R/S/E remakes won't be like their original.

In the end, the show is about advertising the games and brainwashing kids to buy MOAR GAMEZ(though currently, to make people BUY MOAR HG/SS). So, if GameFreak wants to go in one way, so should the anime.

I think that even if the Gen. V region doesn't have Contests, the RSE remakes will still have them. FRLG and HGSS taught us that Contests (or their lack) isn't a generational things. It's about REGION. Hoenn and Sinnoh does have Contests. Kanto and Johto don't. This applies to the games only, of course. In the anime the contest are everywhere. So, even if they're not in the games they might still be in the anime.

In other words, the presence of Contests is a means of REGION, not GENERATION.

Pokethlon in the anime is a mini-competetion rather than a quest. It's possible for it to replace Contests in the game where it's comparable, but I doubt it will happen in the anime.

After all, Kotone's going for badges, not medals.

Since Junki "I can't write a battle to save my life" Takegami is writing the Pokethlon episode, that means that there isn't enough battle focus to make it into a side quest.

No, it's not girly at all, even the opposite... and there's absolutely no reason at all to randomly remove Contests after they became an important part of the anime just like the Gyms

IMO, I think Pokethlon will only be a HG/SS exclusive gameplay/feature, whatever you want to call it. Does anyone even play the contest part in the games anymore? I briefly checked it out in the R/S/E games and found it to be quite boring.

I'd rather they took the contest part out of the next gen and expanded the land or storyline more.
