Do you think Seviper will last through all of DP?

Team Rocket kept their Hoenn Pokemon through a good chunk of DP, Cacnea was then given to Gardenia and Jessie released Dustox.

Unless you count Mime Jr. since James got it in Battle Frontier, Seviper is their only Hoenn era Pokemon left on the roster.

Do you think Jessie will keep Seviper for the rest of DP? It certainly doesn't seem like it'll be replaced with anything yet.

I think everyone knows that it's not going to be replaced until a new snake is introduced.

If that happens in this Gen (as in, a Gen V poké debuting in Gen IV), then she might give it up. Otherwise, we're just going to wait until Gen V.

Thats a tough question. Are there any other options for Jessie though? She always has her snake/poison critter. So... Skuntank? no...

Jessie has to have a snake. She always has to have a snake. Jessie without a snake is like Ash without a hat, or like Brock without his infatuations with the Jenny's/Joy's. It just can't be done.

Or James without a grass Pokemon that attacks him in some way.

Y'know, if Seviper had a new DP evo it would have been interesting to see it evolve. That way it'd be the same and new Pokemon at the same time.

On that note, does anyone else think Carnivine could have been a branched evo for Cacnea? They almost like they could be related.

With Carnivine, wasn't the earliest speculation that it was related to the Bellsprout line? Both being based off of Carnivorous plants. It would have been interesting if it were the case (and mean James would have had three Pokemon in the Bellsprout line at some point, two Victreebell and a Carnivine). In the case of Seviper, maybe it'll have a fifth gen evo? Though that would really be an incredibly late evolution.

How does a cactus morph into a Venus fly trap?

Precisely, it's like having Pikachu evolve into a Camerupt, purely on the basis in that they're four-legged furry animals.

Not all carnivorus plants are related. Venus Fly Traps and Pitcher plants are about as related as say... An otter and a penguin. Just because they have similar adaptations.

Seviper is the most boring Pokemon on the main cast. I'd miss it as much as I miss Geodude. The only memorable thing it's done all saga is get clocked by Happiny.

Aw, I really like Seviper. Its not like Arbok really had a personality either.

I'm well aware of that, but for the sake of simplicity in the Pokemon Universe an evolution of one carnivorous plant into another wouldn't be so farfetched, even if based off of different species in our world. One plant turning into another isn't all that different from a horse turning into a unicorn, or a fish turning into an octopus.

But that would only make carnivine just an off-shoot of the Bellsprout family. The only things they have in common is that they're both carnivorus plants. They don't even hunt in the same way. (The Bellsprout line tends to catch it's prey by luring it into the "bell", Carnivine just snaps it up)

As much as I like Bellossom, it didn't make a whole lot of sense to tack it onto the Oddish family. There's barely any similarities. The same would apply if Carnivine was related to the Bellspourt family.

I should've corrected myself. The first "Venus fly trap" was Victreebel.

And I still say it would have been totally unoriginal if Carnivine was just an offshoot of the Bellsprout family.

Not all Pokémon need to be related to older ones.

As for Seviper itself, I think it's fine where it is now. It'll probably only be released if Game Freak invents another poison type snake.

Ever since Houen, there have been certain roles that Musashi and Kojirou's team members always seem to fill. For Kojirou, he always has a Grass-type that attacks him out of affection and a little guy who doesn't do much in battle but acts as a "best friend" instead. And Musashi always has a venomous snake, an equally venomous bug, and, well, Sonansu.

DP presented us with new contenders for both spots on Kojirou's team (Masukippa to replace Sabonea, and I'm surprised they coexisted for so long; and Manene to replace Chiriin) and one of the free spots on Musashi's team (Megayanma for Dokucale). Nothing's come along to fill in Habunake's spot yet, so I think it'll probably stick around. Perhaps Generation V will bring an evolution for it - as a matter of fact, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it did.

I just find it odd that TR's Hoenn roster lasted into DP for so long.

You'd think Dustox would have been released in Battle Frontier or something, not kept until what...70 episodes into Sinnoh or whatever it was?

Jessie has now owned Seviper for more episodes than she had Arbok, which is mind blowing when you think of it.

Well, Unlike Ash and his friends, Team Rocket doesn't have a place to store their Pokémon (They would be lucky if they found one of James' extra mansions). So they have to release a Pokémon in order to gain a new one. (They can't each have a full team since they seem to function as a single "unit".)

Also, Dustox is in the Sinnoh dex.
