a girl for a rival? I think he should, just to mix things up a bit. What do you think. I'm sorry if this has already been posted.

Re: Do you think that Ash should have a girl replace Brock, a boy replace Dawn, and..

This would be a good idea.
I wouldn't want the girl to be guy crazy though like BrockXD

Re: Do you think that Ash should have a girl replace Brock, a boy replace Dawn, and..

Should? Not necessarily, but I think that would be damn cool.

Re: Do you think that Ash should have a girl replace Brock, a boy replace Dawn, and..

That would be interesting to see.
It'd make things a lot different.

Re: Do you think that Ash should have a girl replace Brock, a boy replace Dawn, and..

Do you mean have a male coordinator and a female breeder?

If so, since I don't want there to be another coordinator and another breeder since the writers have no current interest in replacing the current badge collector (or the current evil trio), I think you guys can figure out where I stand here. (Then again, I've said so already.)

Re: Do you think that Ash should have a girl replace Brock, a boy replace Dawn, and..

A female rival? Yes plz.

However, replacing Brock with a girl and Dawn with a boy wouldn't make much of a difference, except for maybe the following:

Brockette: "Oh nurse Joy, you make my heart serenade yadda yadda yadda"

I don't think the conservative-minded folks would appreciate a girl fawning over Joy and Jenny. After all, replacing Brock specifically with a girl would mean she has the same characteristics as Brock, meaning background prop for an entire saga and jolly intermezzo of courting the nurse, the cop and the COTD.

Until the gym-doer is a girl, the coordinator will /never/ be a guy. It's a gender balance thing. They won't let the two boys have all the focal action and let the third wheel chick do nothing as big. They just won't.

Unless she's a 'thon person, which means the cast is split into three starring roles, as long as the 'thons are just like the gyms and contests: frequent-happening.

Why would a girl replacing Takeshi hit on Joi or Junsa? Just because she would be replacing him doesn't mean she needs to do exactly the same things Takeshi does.

I don't think any of the things the OP says will happen, but it would be cool if they did. Especially the female rival thing.

Or get a guy/girl wwho is the complete opposite of Brock. Like everyone they meet falling in love with them. Oh yes, I'd like that.

But I still love Brock too much to see him off. It would be nice to see another person around Brock's age join the group, imo. Just to switch up the dynamics and such.

Re: Do you think that Ash should have a girl replace Brock, a boy replace Dawn, and..

The "Brockette" would be more of a role model for Ash, but it would not come at the price of falling in love with anyone. The roles of the changes could go any way, but the rival would stay rival.

That's why I specifically stated in my first post that I gathered that "replacing Brock/Takeshi with a girl means she has the same characteristics as him". I know it's not a necessity.

In short, my reasoning went as following: "same stuff = different package".
All in all, it would be a fun change if it were to happen that way.

Female rival should be a lock, though.

Re: Do you think that Ash should have a girl replace Brock, a boy replace Dawn, and..

EXACTLY!!! They might even pick up old followers who don't like the repeated acts and characters and behavior that we currently have!

Re: Do you think that Ash should have a girl replace Brock, a boy replace Dawn, and..

As I've said in the past, personally, I don't care if people who stopped watching Pokemon continue not to watch it. Chances are they're out of the target audience, and this is the story of the 600+ episode journey of a Pokemon trainer.

Generally speaking, I don't think the people who've watched Pokemon have missed much. (And I'm thinking of Paul, Hunter J, contests, the new evil organizations, etc. in my head right now, so...)

Re: Do you think that Ash should have a girl replace Brock, a boy replace Dawn, and..

YES!!!! Arceus please. Change it up.

Re: Do you think that Ash should have a girl replace Brock, a boy replace Dawn, and..

I think it'd be kinda interesting to have a male coordinator on Ash's team for once. But there's still the unknown female protagonist from Gen V that we still have to consider... unless they decided to throw us a big loop and have just the male character, but I really don't see that happening.

Re: Do you think that Ash should have a girl replace Brock, a boy replace Dawn, and..

I really doubt they'll ever had a male coordinator in the main cast, since the contest arc's main purpose is to serve as the distaff counterpart and parallel to Ash's badge quest. So giving that to another male character while regulating the female character to a supporting character role is a complete no-no. Especially since the male and female co-leading together already works pretty well as it is.

A female rival isn't completely out of the question though. If she was treated at the same level and attention that Paul and Barry get, that would be swell. Of course, making her an exact clone of Paul wouldn't work since Paul already filled that role...

Re: Do you think that Ash should have a girl replace Brock, a boy replace Dawn, and..

Nobody mentioned the shipping possibilities of the main rival being female... :p

Re: Do you think that Ash should have a girl replace Brock, a boy replace Dawn, and..

I say why break with tradition. Brock has been a mainstay, and everyone else have been girls. It's a good system I say keep it.

Re: Do you think that Ash should have a girl replace Brock, a boy replace Dawn, and..

I definetly want a female rival, but for the other two, no. The reason for the coordinator is what everyone else said. As for Brock, well there is no chance of Ash and two girls. I'd love it, but most people would say that would make the show too girly.

I do like the idea of another girl joining for a third main role. Something irks me about having a set main goal for each gender.

Re: Do you think that Ash should have a girl replace Brock, a boy replace Dawn, and..

I am actually intrigue to see a female rival for Ash, since that is very rare sight for a female trainer to go after badges and the league. I think Lyra herself proved that a girl going after badges would be a good idea.

As for a male going for coordinator, I'm on the fence about that, but I'm willing to see how OLM would handle it. But a female breeder I would open up right off the bat, as long as she does more than Brock.
