Do you think the Anime needs better humor and dialogue?

One of the worst things about Diamond & Pearl is most of the humor and dialogue (especially for the dub). It absolutely ruins the whole story for me because it sounds like they weren't even trying. If you agree with me, please reply to this thread saying why. If you don't, then reply anyways but state a specific reason why you think so.

And remember, no flaming.

P.S. I like DP storytelling but the dialogue... UGH! I just hope Best Wishes makes up for it.

It's probably just because we're older than the target audience that the humour is written for?

The dialogue certainly needs to be improved.
I couldn't even watch the first DP season without yelling at the characters after every five minutes for telling how awesome everyone is over and over again.

Finally, someone who's on the same wavelength as me.

Once I remembered it was a kid's show, the only thing that annoys me is how everything is apparently amazing. Like how in Yu-Gi-Oh!, apparently playing a monster on it's own is good >>

Aside from that, Candice's KI, when the dub made no attempt at explaining what KI is.

Don't get me started on that, Candice was going on and on about KI this, KI that and I was like, what crap is this she's going on about.

TRio's dub dialogue is the only thing I really have a problem with... Candice's kiai thing WAS pretty ridiculous (which just like TRio, was only ridiculous in the dub) but she appeared only in like 3-5 eps so it's not that bad when you look at the series as a whole

Yes, same goes for the whole Riceball=Donut/Sandwich fiasco.

The script could definitely do with a little more razzmatazz, yes. Diamond and Pearl has been the best pokemon has ever been in terms of the story line, but 'the funny' sort of took a nosedive.
I think the Rockets are generally ok in this regard, which is why I still like them. They still get some fun wordplay, a few bits of random nonsense and some amusing conversations within their little clique. Sometimes I do think the show's writers rely a little too much on them, though, since the protagonists can tend to be a whole 'nother brand of three R's. That is, robotic, repetitive and redundant. That's not to say they haven't been funny, because they have been. But it's way too sparse for my liking.

Put simply, yes. Not dialouge, but humor. It's probably due to the fact that I'm older than the target audience though.

Well, DP actually had a plot. A because of that it lost some of the humor the show originally had. I don't see that as a problem because it was a change for the better. Besides, I prefer DP's humor over the old slapstick humor the originals had.

As for the dialogue, I really have no problem with it. Sure, it gets awkward at times, but it's a show that's primarily aimed toward kids. So it's kind of expected. :/

While the Pokemon Anime is for kids, that's no excuse for the lackluster dialogue. Whether it be for kids, teens or adults, a TV show's dialogue should show that they really put their all into writing the script. It the most important part of a show, book or movie.

That's what I believe.

You have a point, but let's take a show like Sesame Street for example. It's a show aimed for young children. Obviously, the dialouge is likely to be awful and the humor is going to be little kiddie jokes. Why would you want the writers of Sesame Street to cater to an older fans needs when the target audience is 3 year olds?

The JP version seems like they put effort into the dialogue. It's the dub that makes it seem odd, but it's never a HUGE change. Leave it up for 4kids to do that.

Have you ever watch the Japanese version with subtitles? It's not bad or good, it just seems like they weren't even trying.

By the way, I happened to like the 4kids dialogue (especially in AG).

Some of the subtitles are fansubs. They aren't always correct translations.

Off-topic:
I liked 4kid's dub of AG too, but I have a thing against them for what they did to the Original series.
