Do you think we could be at the Unova league at this time next year?

Has baseball not delayed an ep in Japan, the 5th Gym was supposed to air this December instead of in January. That means the writers would have had Ash got 4 badges in 1 year.

That means for 2012, all Ash needs now is 3 badges. I can see the 6th badge being around March/April, the 7th being around August, the 8th being around November, and the league starting sometime around December.

That means Unova really will be only 2 years and 4 months as a saga, making it the second shortest region after Kanto. After that I'd suspect a secondary arc in Eastern Unova. What do you think?

Well Considerining i dont really follow the new series, i do have one thing to say. Based on what your saying, Ash will get a new badge every 4 months. That would be around 16 new episodes between every badge. Dont you think thats a little excessive?

Have you considered the Reshiram/Zekrom/Kyurem arc yet? That will come into play without a doubt.

Maybe visiting the other side of Unova that they haven't bothered with yet? Black City, White Forest etc?

Or even maybe Ash, Iris and Cilan having to go to the Museum again for the Stone?

OR EVEN a N's Castle arc?

It's all speculation but there's so many possibilities, chances of them participating in the League next December is highly unlikely.

Theres even the possibility of Ash and them encountering some of the event pokemon like meloetta or keldeo. Or theres the chance of another movie. So many possibilities

I think all those things can happen after the league in a filler arc. That's where I think the Plasma story will conclude anyway.

Personally, I don't believe it will be that quick.

Ash isn't the only one with a goal; therefore, I have a feeling that it will take a lot more time. There's also still Team Plasma, who haven't arrived yet in that two-parter and their backstory would take some time, there's the rest of Unova and all its sights, and a few Legendaries too, other than the Kami Trio, and they may explain that Zekrom that appeared in BW001. (I'm excluding the movies for now.)
Then, incredulously, it may go on after the League, like you said.
I've a feeling that they won't make BW short. There's a lot of potential packed in it.

It depends if the writers pull another Hiun to Raimon on us. Even after the league, there could be another filler arc if the third version game contains an Isshu Battle Frontier.

I assume they won't cover any more Battle Frontier's. There's no doubt the Subway Twins will probably be Frontier Brains in the third version, and Ash/Cilan already battled them. I think the Battle Frontier was only covered once because it was new to the franchise at the time, and they have no reason to cover it again since Ash turned down the offer to be a Frontier Brain.

I do think they will go to Eastern Unova to possibly wrap up the Team Plasma story though.

I think all signs point to something massive happening near the end of Ash's Gym challenges to slow down the pace.

I'd like to see the anime to follow the games to some extent and have a culmination of N's storyline at the Pokemon League, with Team Plasma destroying the League in an attempt to stop it/free the pokemon, huge big battle will ensue with the end result of having to delay the League while things are rebuilt. Then, Ash will be told about the Battle Frontier in Eastern Unova (timed to coincide with the third game), do that to fill in the time, eventually get back around to the Poketransfer lab and bring in his reserves from Oak and take on the league.

By delaying the league but keeping a quick pace for the badges, you can solve the problem of Ash's development and make his eventual second place justifiable in a way it currently isn't, do a good job of an N storyline and have him achieve something similar to the games and pace things without doing basically a year worth of filler.

I can't see it keeping this pace and not having there be a huge event waiting in the north.

Doubt N and Team Plasma will appear at all anymore, and if they do then I HOPE that it will be a massive story arc to make up for all the lack of depth in BW, ditto for Giovanni and Team Rocket because their "twilight" is upon them and this is likely their last series.

But yes I agree that the badges will very likely all be collected by next year. Honestly its a good thing, the quicker the better imo. Unova is indeed the new age Kanto now in many aspects.

Eastern Unova storyline sounds cool though, but if Team Plasma or Giovanni isn't involved then theres no conflict to be had.

We wouldn't know if the writers would plan to stretch the pacing for the last few gyms.

They could always pull a DP and have a 52 episode gap between two of the gym battles. That'd give them time to stretch out the Unova saga. Of course, that might leave us with excruciating filler, unless some Team Plasma action fills in the gap.

But honestly, I agree that this one will end quickly, and leave us with an Eastern Unova storyline for the last half of the BW series. And unless there IS a Battle Frontier or something in the inevitable Grey Version, I don't know what could fill up Eastern Unova's plot.

If they try to follow the games at least a little bit with the Plasma storyline the next opportunity is chargestone cave. Maybe they can do a bit of an arc there and stretch it out a bit before the 6th gym. I also would like to see celestrial tower, and dragonspiral tower (another natural plasma opportunity) which they may include.

The Team Plasma stuff will probably continue after the league is over. Unlike Magma/Aqua or Galactic, I don't think this villain team will end before the league like the others did.

Unova is shorter because:

a) There aren't much plotlines. No Contests and no villains really just leaves Ash's Gyms

b) Ash's Pokemon aren't getting much development anyway, so eps aren't being spent on them

c) Ash's rivals are well...kinda pointless. Trip and Bianca aren't exactly in need of tons of episodes.

d) Most of the Unova pokemon are debuted already, I think there's only 40 non-legendaries yet to be put into eps.

There's really no way to predict how long the gyms will be stretched out from this point. We'll just have to wait to see when the Unova League will be.

If it is around late next year or early the following year, we can expect a Battle Frontier (or something similar) arc until generation 6.

It's quite possible we arive so soon at the league! Give it max 10-15 eps between gyms! (Okay nImbasa was an exception don't think that will happen again!) So with 45 eps to gym number 8! and with 3-4 double episodes with a break we reach the count of around 50 eps and hopefully with a Team plasma arc around 4 eps! Yes we could be on our way to the UNOVA LEAGUE! So the League saga will have around 130 episodes like Hoenn! And 40 more eps till next season running through Hoenn and having some kind of tournament-league their!
