Do you think we will get a new Best Wishes (meaning regression)?

Do you think regression is coming?

I believe Ash will get regressed in Gen VIII or IX. The executives don't want him to win because they seem to believe that would be the end of the show (or probably just want to make it easier for him to travel to another region). Since Ash ended up runner-up in Kalos, his rank can't progress any further, so he will have to be regressed. The executives seem to believe making him win will make them lose a lot of money, but him getting regressed won't affect the show much, it will still be doing tons of money. So given their mentality, the executives will push the "Regression" button. By the time Gen VIII comes, most of those who watched Best Wishes will be outside the target audience.
Yes, the whole show is available online, but who's going to watch it from the beginning with its 1000+ episodes?

So, do you believe regression is coming or you think I am being too pessimistic.

Doubt it. They could have easily done it in SM what with the reduced emphasis on battles, but they didn't. I think the regression was a symptom of BW being a pseudo-rehash of Kanto, which was a reflection of the "Unova Pokemon only" nature of the first BW games.

I think you are being slightly too pessimistic. I think that there will always be one or two rivals that will always beat Ash in the league and that is the way it is going to go. I think it is fine for him to be 2nd this time but 3rd next time. The writers don't necessarily have to keep making him better. To be honest, we know that he isn't using the same Pokemon every region because he changes so his new Pokemon won't have much experience. But he should. But the problem is that the producers make it like that. I think that there is a good chance he will be beaten by Gladion. I don't think Ash will win against him. If Ash wins, then it will be clear to see that he has fewer rivals in whichever season he wins in as he has less people that are strong to fight

I don't think Ash will necessarily need to "regress". The producers can make anything they want out of his new Pokémon in a new region. The only reason BW had a regression was because Unova was supposed to be a refresh start to the series with many throwbacks to the original series. That being said, if regression is ever in question, I would prefer see Ash being replaced with the games at the time's player characters to take over the show.

I don't think any regression would even be possible after SM.

Roughly 60 episodes in, Ash's XY team was far more developed than in SM. And the lack of any gym quest of some sorts (trials who?) will not give any reason to give Ash a team on DP/XY levels.

So since, imo, SM is basically as neutral as it can be, the next series (assuming there's a gym quest) will bring up a more developed team battle-wise.

BW was terrible. As Rockapheller said, they were trying to bring it back to square 1. But what really happened that people got angry when Pikachu lost to Trip's Snivy. Then, losing to Cameron. BW was one of the worst animes, I hope the producers have learned from their mistakes. I hope a regression doesn't happen. SamurottMan raises an interesting point. I agree that the trials require more thinking than actual battling like they did in the games. Where there is a gym quest, Ash will be focusing on training his Pokemon. In the Sun and Moon anime, all Ash has been doing is Z-Move training and once helping Rockruff learn Rock Throw. Therefore, Samurott's hypothesis is probably correct. Ash may lose the E4 because of lack of training but then they will probably give him a better result in the next anime. However, it is also too early to hypothesise the question put forward in this thread.
