Does anyone watch Doctor Who on here? If so have you seen the latest episodes?

Who do you think River Song killed? They make it seem like its the doctor... but could she really kill him? Would she?

More then likely. Probably saving that plotline for the end of Matt Smiths' run and the twelfth doctors regeneration.

The newest one (Vampires of Venice) was enjoyable if pretty dumb. Kinda funny how the 16th century Venetians don't take notice at their wardrobe.
Also bad CGI is bad. But hey, it's been an essential part of the show since the later fourth doctor episodes.

Yeah I read that Karen Gillan and Matt Smith have both signed on for another season so at least we won't have to see it and too quick.
haha I enjoyed Vampires in Venice. I agree that the CGI was pretty bad but I'm thinking your right. And honestly... I think the old school CGI works for them. They don't really need the fancy stuff.. I think if they tried to make it more fancy they would prolly end up messing it up.
I was also wondering about the clothes. generally they address that issue, why they didn't for this episode confuses me but hey thats how it goes...
I'm curious as to what the whole "Amy's pregnant!" thing is gonna be like in the next episode...

That would be called "As the Plot Demands." In some cases it's a matter of importance, in others no one cares. Also bear in mind that some of the places they go, like Pompeii, are part of relatively advanced and cultured societies that recognize that some people are different and don't react all that strongly. Shakespeare himself at first accepted the whole "she's from another country" thing at face value at first..

At WWC's question, of course it's the Doctor. Who else do you ever hear described as "the best man I've ever known" on this show? My more pertinent question is

is she the Doctor's bloody wife or not?

oh yes! I too wonder about that... she now his name! Though i wonder what that "one reason" is for why he would tell someone his real name... and what in the world is this name?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I'm pretty sure they explained the name thing as some rite of silence the doctor had to take in order to be granted the autonomy he had had up until the time war and is still respecting it out of remembrance of his people/some other tradition sustaining BS.

With regards to the clothing, Rory's shirt had a picture on it. Pretty sure even with "We're foreigners" and the half-working chameleon circuit they would take notice of that.

So what do you all think of the new episode?

Personally, thought it was very well done. Felt much like a Moffat episode with the use of internalized views/desires and amazing use of the shows low budget.

I was really relieved that the Dream Lord didn't turn out to be the Master. Was literally prepping myself to suddenly hate the episode with them bringing back a completely worthless villain.

She would if it looked like he was on the edge of becoming the Valeyard once again - like he was acting in the Waters of Mars, which I assume is the motivation they'll give her when and if the time comes.

For those who haven't been with the series that long: The Valeyard/Dreamlord is a manifestation of the Doctor's dark side, built up over millenniums of extra negative emotions. The primary reason the Doctor travels with humans is that their presence has a calming psychological effect on him that keeps him from giving into his darker impulses. The Valeyard is like the Master but more competent and infinitely more dangerous, so it's imperative he be kept from coming into existence, but he still exists as a potentiality in a timey wimey wibbly wobbly sort of way.

and what in the world is this name?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

The Doctor chooses to not tell humans with his name because mainly, it's a symbol of his rejection of Time Lord society, which he loathes.

A popular fan theory is that his name actually is some slight mispronunciation of "The Doctor" - IE "Tehdoktor" or something like that.
