Do any of you not buy the initial games and just wait for the third/Director's Cut game? I did this for Emerald, but couldn't wait for Gen IV's third version so skipped out on Platinum. Glad I got SS, though. I do regret getting Silver version and not waiting for Crystal to come out when I was younger, however.

Chances are I'll not get BW and juat wait for the third version, though. It'll most likely be for the 3DS, and I still love playing my SS. If I get BW then I'll be HOOKED on it, lol. Besides, I don't know which one to get anyways, they both look like the greatest Pokemon games yet, so yeah, I'll probably settle for the third version.

BW will be for the DS, but it will come out in the U.S. around the same time the 3DS comes out, I think.
edit: actually nvm, 3ds's release date hasn't been announced yet.

I usually get one of the first ones and the second one. It pays to have a job so you can buy games.

Never. I enjoy Pokemon games so much to the point I sometimes consider importing them.

I'll get White, then when the third version comes out, I'll grab that immediately so I don't get shafted out of mystery gift stuff like I did with Platinum :/

I used to have a copy of sapphire way back, lost it, and then I just said forget it, I'll get Emerald instead of getting a new copy of sapphire.

I don't think I could wait till the third version to be honest...I'm sure I'd cave in and buy the game before then since they aren't expensive and I'd see them pretty much in every store I visit.

Either way, I've only got the third version twice (Emerald and Platinum), and I haven't been disappointed...in fact, I played Emerald more than Ruby and Platinum more than Diamond and Pearl. Actually, last Gen was the first time I got all three versions (Japanese Pearl, English Diamond, English Platinum) and I had a blast each time.

I don't really wait for third versions, because I believe that getting the first two versions, or at least one of them, would make the third version more evident. It's not like you can get the third version if nobody buys either of the first two versions.

I get the original versions first, then I go for the third version when it comes out.

I wish I did that for this 4th Generation. :/

That aside, no, I never wait for the 3rd Version. In fact, before Emerald, I completely ignored them because they weren't worth it.

I always get one of the first two (Excluding Gold and Silver), then look at the third version to see if it has any big improvements. If it does, like Emerald, I'll get it. If not, like Platinum, I won't get it. I always get one of the two remake games too.

Nope, i am impatient.I want to play the game as soon as possible.

Well, as a high school student in this deadly American economy, finding a PART-TIME job is harder than it's ever been, much less an actual job. You're pretty lucky.

Do you live in a really urban area ala NYC? Because there are small and cramped Chinatown video game stores that sell all kinds of crap, and usually they have brand new imported games. A friend of mine bought his Japanese Platinum there a few weeks after Platinum came out in Japan along with a Japanese version of Crystal and Green there back in like, 1999-2000 or so.

Yeah, that definitely influences my decision in the matter. I can pretty much buy any video game I wish at any time (don't mean this spoiled, but because I save over half of my paycheck each week in the bank and I don't buy a lot anyway so I have a lot of money to fall back on), so I don't feel guilty about paying for the same game twice...the biggest problem for me is guilt over not finishing a game before buying another one, a common occurrence for me.

...although, I had just gotten my first job when I got the English Diamond (I got the Japanese Pearl with saved up money from helping my parents mow the lawn), so I guess this is the first time I've started a generation with a job.

I always buy one of the initial round of the games. They're plenty entertaining to be worth the money. If I have enough when the third version comes out, I'll nab one of those, too (found a summer job, but my job offer when I return to university is... pending).

If a thread only concerns the games...it really belongs in the Video GAMES section. Moving.
