I've never had any interest in playing them; I don't even know how to play it. I'd rather collect 'em all. The artworks are really nice. They bring light onto the designs and behaviors of everything, in a rather sprite-based interpretation based RPG series.
However that doesn't mean I'll enjoy having fake cards due to the artwork. I brought 2 packs for 99 cents and they were all fakes..

Do you play or collect?

I love the trading card game! I don't buy them that much but I do go to leagues and tournaments. Though I do think the video games are better than the TCG in my opinion.

I play, but the game is becoming a little repetitive, what with everybody throwing 59 cards at you that you MUSNT be missing from your deck to stop you from failing. Either way, its fun... -ish.

I collect. I have like 568.(I just went to count them.)

I never had anyone to battle against. I got into the card collecting phase on the tail end of its popularity, so by the time I had enough cards and know-how to battle with anyone, everyone was off to Yugioh or whatever it's called. I could get a battle going every now and then with my friend, but it's been about 8 or 9 years since I've done so.

I'd go to a tournament, but I'd probably get stomped. The most "recent" card I have is a Lieutenant Surge's Pikachu, but I've only got one Electric Energy card, so he's practically worthless. I have a feeling to old, original sets of cards wouldn't stand a chance against some of the stuff that's out there today.

I sometimes do... But that's a very big sometimes.

Meanwhile, my mum, another big fan of Pokemon, buys and sells them on eBay for profit. We can have hundreds at one time... All from ancient sets. I actually find it fun to sort them, and there's a lot to sort them by. It just passes the time.

I used to play competitively until the HGSS expansion came out. I don't like that I won't be able to "powerplay" anymore. Pokemon SP and Lv. X > Pokemon Prime and Legends at a competitive level.

I haven't played for a good 3 years now, and have sold my cards, but it was fun when I was into it. had some killer decks.

I play the card game, but not as often as I used to. I don't know why.

i only ever "mock played" with my younger brother about 10yrs or so ago back in the day of the base sets. but i was too engrossed with the games to really be bothered to "play" the game. So i only collected them for their pretty artwork:) i always thought the holo's were the most amazing things ever^^

and about a month or so ago i bought my first mix set again in years. got a Dragonite and Dialga on my 1st try xD i don't think i'll ever be able to top that :3

I used to collect them, untill I found out that they were another worthless collectables that get all the 6-9 year olds drooling over them, just like that Bakugon crap, and gogo's crazy bones, seriously, whats so interesting about them?

About the only thing I used to collect apart from cards were Beyblades, but those were cool, plus based off an Anime, so was Pokemon, but they were cards. I also hate Yu-gi-oh *Braces self for flaming*

Off topic a bit, but what came first, the card game, the anime, or the games? For Pokemon I mean.

I used to collect them, but then stopped sometime. I'm not sure why. I think I just got into the Pokemon games too much...
Actually, I think I stopped collecting them around the time that I joined Bulbagarden. Probably because I was too concerned about trading and everything.
Once I actually counted them. I had more than 1000... and now I probably have around 1200 or something. Sometime I'll sell them... or I'll just keep them, to look at sometimes.

@Dimentio: I don't like Yugioh either...

I play hardcore. I hit about 15-20 tournaments each year, and it's definitely worth the effort (got a 1500$ scholarship for winning a regional event this year, not to mention over 60 packs in prizes :) ).

I tried to learn how to play it when I was little, but...I knew no one else that knew how to play, so I never really learned.

My girlfriend had a friend four years ago that knew how to play the card game, though. She was like "He's the only person I ever knew that actually knew how to play the Pokemon trading card game! Seriously!"

My younger brother and I still play. Sadly not as often as I'd like to because of our varying schedules and the fact that I was away at college most of the time. Also doesn't help the only tourneys I ever played in were for MtG, so I forgot how to play for a while and got strange looks when I was tapping cards for Energy.

Then I found that Pokemon Rumble card game, and found my old cards still work with that game, and the desire came back.
