Does Cilan have the potential to travel with Ash for multiple sagas?

What if Cilan accompanied Ash to the Gen VI region? Would his sommelier thing get old and boring or would he still be lovable? Would you like it if he traveled with him

It might be fun, but I'm not sure if it would be great ya know? Don't you think it would get a bit tired at times?

Well I think that CIlan doesn't have the same "FLavour" filled personality that Brock had. hah unintended pun.

I don't know, I like him :) He's adorable. I wouldn't mind if he stuck around for Gen VI

Cilan didn't really do anything regarding his sommelier job though. He has NOT effected anyone's team choices based on their style or otherwise (which I thought his job). I guess his job is to describe how FABULOUS everything is cause THAT'S ALL HE'S DOING. If that his job congratulations fangirls (and fanboys) their is much more sparkles to come but it doesn't seem to mean anything really or add to the story so I wouldn't want him to stay in that case.

It is, but he's still learning, and the reason he follows Satoshi is because he was so impressed with his way of handling his team he wanted to know more about it.

I don't see Cilan OR Iris lasting past BW.

If they keep Ash himself, I see them giving him two new sidekicks every gen now. I think he'd get old too.

I could see Cilan staying for another series, but a lot of fans wouldn't like it. Perhaps after a four year break, Brock would be good to come back...

I hope not. I can barely stand him now - and considering unova's status as a far off region that keeps to itself, i doubt Cilan would stray out of it.

What does that have to do with anything? I doubt he will stay, but he is certainly popular enough too.

Okay I guess that makes sense if it were not for that he was an A rank somelier meaning(according to connotations of those ranks) he is fully trained and the only ones above him are a special few. Further evidence of him being fully trained includes the fact that he is a high enough rank to have an assistant. He hasn't given any other charters advice. I good time for him to do this was when Bianca was trying to trade her starter. Feel free to interject next time Cilan!

Dude, I'm not a mod but read the last sentence of the OP. PLEASE!

That makes him good enough to work on his own. It doesn't make him a recognized specialist in his field, which one would assume he has an interest in becoming. This is how sommeliering works in real life, too - there are several ranks you can attain, and the higher your rank, the more recognized your abilities, the more exclusive your services, and the higher pay you can demand.

My point is he trained enough to actually to something so why won't he do something?!

Can he? Yes. Should he? No.

Keeping characters for more than one generation is a mistake. We saw what happened to other characters who were kept too long and their characters suffered.

I prefer Cilan to go out while he's on top instead of me thinking he had become stale and pointless.

Both Cilan and Iris have the potential to stay with Ash in future sagas, but it is still too early to tell if both characters will be kept in the next region.

I really hope they don't keep him. I like his character now, but if they kept him in, he'd become stale, and maybe even worthless like Brock in DP.

What potential is there? They're not going to make the same mistakes with them that they did with Misty/Brock.

People find Cilan fresh now because it's only been 50 episodes. Remember Brock was loved only 50 episodes in. However if Cilan lasts for 400, I can assure you the fandom won't like him as much.

Likewise they won't keep BW characters for the 6th gen. It's the same reason May followed by Dawn left.

At the rate of his growing flamboyance (which has admittingly, calmed down the slightest bit in the past few episodes), I don't not think so.
I just don't believe that flamboyant flashy characters are good in a long burst. Don't get me wrong, ravenous Cilan fangirls, I do love him, but either he needs to tone down the flamboyance or else BW is the only series he'll stay in.
And I think it's a good thing, because I fear, like Brock, his character may dull down in the laters series if he stays on.

He COULD stay, but he shouldn't. At this point (Assuming they don't finally get rid of Ash in Gen 6 or do a full reboot) I think Ash is going to have 2 new traveling companions at the start of the next series. I don't think Cilan or Iris has the potential to last after this gen, especially not Iris seeing as 1)She'll probably stay at the gym or train there and 2)May and Dawn didn't stay and they were better characters in my opinion. Both Iris and Cilan just have this feeling around them (Maybe its cause Unova is so far away from the other regions) that they're never going to leave Unova.
