Does Dawn need more rivals?

Seriously,Dawn need more rivals.Last couple contest all kenny,jessie,zoey.Oh come on they need to give dawn a rival like harley, Or the contest saga is just aint worth watching.

I don't think Dawn needs any more rivals. I want interesting rivals or no rivals at all.

Rivals means long-lasting character development, while no rivals means we meet new characters every time, giving variations.

At this point in show, May just had Drew. She did get Harley later, but much later, and when it's said and done, Solidad dosen't count. So when May left the show, she only had two rivals. We're just getting to the Halfway point in Dp, and Dawn already has Kenny, Zoey, Nando, and Jessie. (I guess she counts) That's four already!

Also, Katie, Brianna (Though I would like to see her return with a Budew, a Caterpie, and a baby Absol some time during Dp), Jeremy, Timmy Grimm, Erika, Josh, Janet, Chaz, and Grace don't count as rivals. They where CoD's. (Eg: Not importent to the show) They came and left.

But unlike everyone else, I find Dawn's rivals VERY interesting indeed, and I'm GLAD the writers are introducing more then in AG.

In conclusion:
Nando is the new Solidad.
Kenny is the new Drew.
(According to most people) Zoey is the new Harley.
Paul is the new Gary.
Pachi is the new Skitty.
Reiji is the new Suzie.
Dawn is the new May, who was the new Misty.
Turtwig is the new Bulbasaur.
Staravia is the new Swellow, who was the new Noctowl, who was the new Pigeot.
Happiny is the new Eevee, who was the new Phanphy, who was the new Togepi.

We need one shot coordinators but no more recurring rivals for her...
It's also logical we didn't get a one shot until now... the first two contests introduced Zoey and Kenny and the last two she lost the appeals... hopefully that means in her next contest we'll get a one shot

Dawn needs more one shots. May had tons of one shots like Salaryman, the Phantom, and Briana, and her contests were interesting. Dawn needs some of those, not more long lasting rivals.

One-shots do count as rivals. May had to battle and beat these people, correct? Just because they never returned didn't mean they're not rivals.

Most of the AG one-shots like Grace, Timmy (the Phantom), Brianna, Erika, etc. have more personality than Dawn's regular rivals. That's why people liked them so I hope Dawn does get one-shot rivals in the future.

Dawn could stand to have some one-shot rivals, but she doesn't need more long-term rivals. She's already got way more than May at this point.

Of course, I would be all for scrapping the current long-term rivals and doing some major retconning to bring some guys in who are actually interesting for the long haul, but I guess we're a little too deeply into the series now to resort to that... they're in the new ED and everything. Sigh. Of all the flaws for this series to have..

He could technically count as a rival for both Ash and Dawn, if he shows up in the Sinnoh league. Still, its a shame the guy is so one-dimensional. It really feels like they took a filler character and are stretching an already bland character far too thin.

What boggles my mind is how the tag battle partners had such great personalities, and then you look at the Contest rivals and they pale in comparison.

Since Zoey and Kenny seem to be permanants due to the ending I'd hope Dawn's tag battle partner is also a coordinator. He actually gives me the Harley vibe, in a different creepy sort of way, and would be a great replacement for Nando in the arc. If the writers got rid of Nando and the crappy Zoey dynamic with him, and added in the tag battle partner, the D/P Contest dynamic would improve tremendously.

I seriously think its mostly Nando that's dragging the arc down. The Contest arc thrives on character interaction and soap-opera like stories, there's nothing Nando is doing in this arc to give the viewers that feeling. If they get rid of the characters that suck, I'm sure people wouldn't have these complaints.

I for one LOVE the current contest rivals.

for one thing. They're all generally NICE. while last arc they were somehow all MEAN. seriously what was UP with that? I hated it. I mean comon harley? he had ISSUES.

I think people are REALLY judging too soon for chracter depth. Really. Drew? for the first while he seemed to pretty much be some random snooty guy who was just a fancier gary. Then later on he gained some depth. The new contest rivals have only been in a few eps, they need more time. even zoey herself has already had some developement, she now accepts that nando does both contests and battles, and can be REALLY good at both.

look at nando: I friggin LOVE that guy. Some of it might be the hot accent or his pretty loks, or the fact that I LOVE bards....but really I love his character! He's so DIFFERENT from previous contest rivals, and thats why I like him. He's calm, layed back, SINGS WHEN HE TALKS, and follows his own path. I don't think that's boring at ALL. It;s pretty dumb to say he's dragging the season down. I mean wow. He hasn't appeared very much and I think with time he'll develope into a great character. Just you wait.

this contest arc is about the characters SUPPORTING eachother, instead of trying to mock or hinder one another. look at the last season! Drew was a little stuck up snob who told may she wouldnt be able to beat him! And harley friggin tries to sabotage may any chance he got! what kind of lessons are the kids learning from THAT?

I personally like it better that the characters generally GET ALONG :/ I feel fine witht he contest rivals as they are now. Sure I wouldnt mind another, perhaps meaner rival added for conflict, but really, I like it when they support eachother.

That right there is the reason I'm not enjoying the Contest dynamic this time around. I don't mind friendly rivals but where is the tension in the arc? All the rivals are way too friendly with Dawn, Jessie is really the only one that acts antagonistic with her.

The Ash/Paul rivalry is fantastic because they're polar opposites who DON'T get along, why can't Dawn have a rivalry like that instead of such good-friends as rivals?

I understand Zoey and Kenny will be her permanent rivals due to the ending, but they really should replace Nando with someone better. The tag battle partner is perfect for Dawn's last rival.

Why does there have to be "replace"ing going on? I love nando and hoping a character will get replaced seems kind of harsh...even to the character's fans..XD I think hes awesome and I hope he;s going NOWHERE.

seriously though, why replace? Why not just add another one? It's not theres only SO MANY characters dawn can meet up with more than ONCE. Seriously it's a big world.

Though I wouldnt mind a character to cause some tension for dawn. I'd like to see a jerky contest rival to get added in. Seriously I think the more the merrier. I hate jerks with a passion but I suppose it would give me something to cheer for (lik dawn winning over said jerky rival) XD

I would love for the contest battle partner to return. He was hardcore. I love those types XD

That guy was seriously awesome, he was creepy and Dawn seemed to like him. If he became a coordinator I'd probably love it.

I think what bothers me is Dawn has 3 rivals and they're all basically the same supportive/nice dynamic going on. Sometimes Kenny teases Dawn and that's great, but that's about as far as we go in this arc in terms of tension. I'm also kinda disappointed that Zoey has become more of a mentor to Dawn than a rival, I liked her better when she was more mysterious around Dawn like in her first Contest. Back then we didn't know how she felt about Dawn and there was better speculation.
