Does eveyone else hate the fact that Japan gets all the good stuff?

Like, on Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire where they have loads of serial codes and shit whilst all we get is a Mystery Gift that they have aswell. Unfair.

I guess it can't be helped. It's annoying, but I'm pretty grateful that we get to play these games at all.

Of course. I think the vast majority of Pokemon's fan base is tired of the exclusives Japanese players get. Even in the age of Wi-Fi not everyone gets the events and when other places get events they're not even good ones. Japan not only gets the superior events but they also have access to any kind of merchandise they want. TPCi despite managing the brand outside does not ship to other countries. Either they don't want to or they can't find a distributor. I doubt the issue would be licensing as after all they are The Pokemon Company International.

Basically Japan gets awesome events of which only a few are distributed to the US and Britain. Because of TPCi's refusal to do Wi-Fi events the rest of the world never gets events. Wi-Fi distributions make it so that everyone can get these events but TPCi for some reason doesn't want to do that. There are only a few 3DS regions so with Wi-Fi everyone who owns a 3DS and has Wi-Fi can get the event.

This. This is the one thing I don't like, as I feel like I'm being cheated out of a Pokemon. It's frustrating as slag and it doesn't seem like it'll change anytime soon.

But yeah, I do find it frustrating.

I find it annoying and frustrating and unfair too. And it doesn't happen with only Pokemon, it happens to other game series too. Like Fire Emblem, much of the Awakening merchandise is Japan only. And then Zelda. Only Japan got the Hyrule Warriors limited edition that came with the scarf and stuff. There WAS a version that came with the scarf in the US, but it was Nintendo World exclusive, and that store is only located in New York. Not EVERY fucking Pokemon fan out west lives in New York or can go to New York.

Well some of the Japanese events aren't really that impressive, so I wouldn't want to see every single thing that Japan gets, but when Japan gets something event exclusive or a rare shiny, it is fairly aggravating. What bothers me more though is when certain events are made exclusive for no reason at all except laziness. There were a lot of events like this back in 5th gen, the 14th movie Shiny Golurk/Hydreigon, Conquest's Shiny Rayquaza, the 16th movie Shiny Genesect. There's no excuse for them to be skipping those kinds of events.

While I have no opinion on this, as I play Pokemon games in such a way as to make those things unacessable anyway, I thought this was appropriate -

At the very least the company could have the good grace to distribute event exclusive pokémon within a reasonable timeframe of their release in Japan. We usually have to wait at least half a year for any event species Japan gets, and if ever there's a re-release in Japan chances are the rest of the world won't get it either.

I'm aware that Pokémon isn't as popular outside Japan, but this kind of deliberate myopia is deeply aggravating

Even worse is when we actually get an event, 90% of the time is an event with a serial code that you can only get at specific stores or a pokemon downloadable at a movie theater. There's a thing called Wi-Fi, use it.

I doubt the issue would be licensing as after all they are The Pokemon Company International.

'International', that's a joke. It should be 'TPCJapan, but maybe we'll sell some PC merch in USA and let Australia have most of the DVDs. Everyone else can get some trading cards or something if we feel like releasing them there... Here have an event, maybe every 3/4 months, sucks to be you if you don't live near where we're giving out the codes'

Anyone else remember this - Tomy International brought on board to help international merchandise - Bulbanews

''The company has also stated that is has "cleared the decks" in regards to licensing and have brought in Tomy, with the huge promise of ensuring that everyone in the world gets the same toys as the ones in Japan''.

That was a joke too.

I'm just glad I can get them on the internet, unlike back in Gen 3 where Kiwis had no events. I am mad they release events of Pokemon that no-one else has anyway of getting, like Faraway Mew and Red Genesect

I wouldn't mind this too much if it wasn't for the fact that there are some event exclusive moves I want. The red Genesect had Shift Gear and Extreme Speed, a Rayquaza had V-Create, and another event Victini had Bolt Strike for example, and these were only released in Japan. I wish I could have these even if they can't be used in most battles due to their legendary/mythical status. Sometimes I feel my opponent already has the advantage due to having access to these events when I don't...

Edit: I just remembered that we missed out on an Imprison Shadow Tag Gothorita as well. I was planning to use this on one of my tournament teams once, but then realized it was Japan only. I was waiting for it to come out and it never did. I'm still hoping that Imprison will become an egg move or something eventually.

Indeed I do hate it. Events should be evenly spread across the world.

If it is difficult to do in one country, make it a wi-fi event. Not that hard!

But if they did that, they might upset the ''favourite son''. /sarcasm

I was going to complain about Diancie, but I guess that America did have a Diancie event. If I had a Diancie, I could get anything from the GTS.

Ughh, you don't even know...>.> It frustrates me so much. From event Pokemon to just really cute merchandise it annoys me. And even then Pokemon is just only one thing on the list of things that Japan has but the rest of us don't...D:
Look, I realize that Pokemon did originate in Japan and thus has a much, much bigger following there, but c'mon! Not only are events really rare (and when they appear are usually just something like a 'special' Pikachu or something like that), but when they DO show up they're Gamestop exclusive or something! =/ It annoys the heck out of me deeply.
And then to just original merchandise? Hardly anything where I live, anyways, but yet Japan is overloading with it. Pokemon trading cards are the only thing 'Pokemon' that are abundant in the small city I live in.
I'm grateful that I can even play the games and own a small shelf of merchandise from this series, but I still wish I could have what Japan has at points. =/
Sorry if this sounds whiny, just a sad fangirl getting jelly over the cool stuff Japan has that she wishes she had. DX.

I agree. Why all these serial codes? What's wronbg with Wi-Fi events?

I feel like the only way to rectify this is for all of the countries to get events exclusive to them.

I was going to say that it's not as popular outside of Japan, but if they can call their company "Pokémon Company International", then clearly somebody out there is buying their things.

And what about Eon Tickets in the US etc, is it asking too much to have these be less exclusive? It's so hard to truly Catch em' All when I gotta trade legendary for legendary. Maybe I want to keep all my Legendaries. And events, forget it, I've got Celebi, that's it, will I ever see a Victini without having to part with a treasured "pocket monster"?

Japan's a tiny island that exports all the time, start sending some stuff elsewhere, like everyone is mentioning, it's called WIFI, use it!
