Does Trip's goal of beating the Champ mean no Cheren in the anime?

READ THE 3RD POST ON THIS THREAD!!

As seen in the recent BW episode, Trip has encountered the Unova Champ as a kid.

Trip; his goal is the train hard by creating battle strategies and coving the “basics”, beat the Unova League, challenge the Champion and take the title as he was inspired by Alder

Overall, I would say that Trip’s goal may foreshadow that Cheren could possibly not appear in the show as his goal in the game is to become stronger and in order to do that he had to beat the champion, but if he does come on the show it would be interesting to see him and Trip interact as their goals are somewhat similar in the sense of becoming champion for different reasons.

Re: Paul’s/Shooti’s inspiration to become powerful Pokémon Trainers

Paul's goal seemed more..honest?, than Trips. Paul, atleast he thought, was trying to learn from his brother's "mistakes" to better himself and not fall for the same trap.

What reason does Trip have? Yeah he met Alder and the man gave him words of encouragement. The same excuse can be given for Ash, or anyoen really, he got "inspired" by what he saw/was told/ect.

When one has such a simple reason for a goal, your determination is really what reflects your drive to attain it. We saw Paul's drive to attain his, yes it wasn't a good one, but he had drive. I've yet to see that from Trip.

I had to update this thread because at first it seemed to branch off in different directions;

As I mentioned before, Trip wants to defeat Alder in order to become Champ and Cheren wants the same thing well at least in order to gain what he believes is "strength"

Does Trip's Unova League goals and his talk about the basics mean that Trip is representing the character that is Cheren? I mean in the games Cheren is a lot like Trip suggesting and telling the player about battle and training strategies along with using them in his battles.

If Cheren did show up in the anime, I think him and Trip would have a very interesting "rivalry" and if they battled that would be one worth watching.

They could still give him a cameo. Even if he has a completely different goal, as long as he's recognizable to the audience as the guy from the games, then there's no problem.

Really I was thinking about this before...I hope not because I kind of like Cheren...but they do have a lot of similarities...but is Shooti all "I have the same number of badges as you, we should be equal"?

...That would be an interesting rivalry...maybe we'd get a cameo of Cheren and Black? Maybe as past friends of Shooti? Maybe Bianca knows Shooti?! :-D

If the thread is about Trip basically being the anime's version of Cheren, why mention Paul at all?

Cheren can still appear in a cameo or something.

Because my first thread was about Paul/Trip and their connections to the Champs of their region and their inspiration to be Pokemon trainers, I'm about to erase the Paul out of the thread.

No.

Take Bianca for example; anyone who's played the games and actually payed attention to dialogue, personality, actions, etc knows how she is. Her anime character takes several defining character moments from her game counterpart and takes it, smashes it into the ground, and blasts it with a bazooka (you're guessing that I don't like anime Bianca; you're right) while laughing on the ashes.

If Bianca can be so different, then why can't Cheren if he ever appears?

Bianca is rather different. But she isn't DRASTICALLY different. We don't know her on a deep enough level like we do her game counterpart to judge. She could very well have the same personal issues as her game counterpart.

I'd actually prefer if Cheren didn't have a big role if he where to appear. Either portray him as an expirienced trainer or just a silent cameo. The characters of Cheren, Bianca and N, in my opinion, are to deep for the anime to convey rightfully. And while I enjoy anime!Bianca in an amusing sense, I'd prefer if they left her personal problems rather ambigious.

If Cheren appears, it will be as Bianca's rival rather than Ash's.

True enough. I also don't think the anime is at a level where it can portray them properly.

I've just assumed since Trip appeared that Cheren wouldn't be seen in anything more than a cameo.

If anything Cheren would make a cameo in the beginning of a movie or something, but I really hope he shows up in the show.

Yeah, I imagine he'll appear in movie cameos like Brendan and Lucas did. The same will probably happen with Hilbert. THe only reason Cheren might appear in the show is because he's an actual rival and not just the games male character.

I believe that Cheren can be a cameo and obviously be not as important as Bianca. and to me, it does seem true that Trip is becoming a parallel-type of Cheren in a way.

The only difference between the two is Cheren is much nicer but then again, I would not know the characters' tones in the game just by reading what they say. I just don't see Cheren being rude to the playable characters in the game as much as Trip being rude to Ash in the Anime.

Maybe him and Trip are related somehow.

I will admit that it could be an interesting concept as Cheren would be jealous that his brother got to meet the Champion and he didn't for one reason or another and Cheren gets to battle Alder in the anime like Paul did with Cynthia and then the two bros go at it in the league for the chance to become Champion

Cheren will be introduced in the anime, just like Hilda.

Ash's doesn't have enough rivals (Trip and Bianca). In the DP arc, he had like...Paul, Barry, Conway (somehow) and even Tobias.

I can imagine, that Cheren is the "new Conway", but less weird. Also, that Trip did meet the Champion, doesn't mean Cheren can't apppear. Cheren might just want to MEET the champion.

The case of Hilda: I can imagine her as a "league rival" (Like Richie, Harrison, Morison, Tyson and Tobias.)

Hilbert will just be a cameo character in movies, like Brendan and Lucas.

True, but Paul and Barry were he "true" DP rivals, Conway is somehow a rival as you pointed out but Tobias was more of a huge roadblock in the way of Ash finally winning a league.

Cheren'll be there.

One thing notable about him is he learned that being the best isn't as good as it sounds. Imagine if he were there to try to teach it to Ash. (of course Ash wouldn't listen)
