what are they? ive seen the term used on this site but i dont know what the term means
 
Put a GBA catridge into the slot whilst playing a game on DS and you'll sometimes ecounter Pokemon you otherwise wouldn't in certain areas
eg solrock can be found in DP if Ruby is in the slot
