Hi, I was just listening to boss music from Donkey Kong 64, and I was thinking: should Nintendo do a remake of Donkey Kong 64? I loved the game as a child. I loved the bosses, the banana collecting, the freeing of the other kongs... I would like it if Nintendo remade it for the 3DS. Would/should Nintendo, do it? What do you think about it?

They can't do it without Rare, who is owned by Microsoft, so a sequel by Retro Studios is the only possible way.

Retro's doing good with the franchise, all they need to do is move forward with games progressing the story, remaking 64 with Retro may not have the same touch Rare had, as nice as it would be to have a remake.

No, maybe not. Rare owned DK at the time, so only Retro Studios could do it.

No, I generally don't buy remakes. I would love to see another adventure in the same vein of the new Donkey Kong Country for the wii though.

How many more N64 remakes do people want for the 3DS?

Technically there's only one N64 remake because there was very little change done on OoT other than the graphics. In order for it to feel like a true remake, it has to abandon its 64-bit music for a fully orchestrated score otherwise it'll feel more like a port.

You seem to have forgotten about Starfox 64 3D.

Hence why I said only one N64 remake, for the 3DS that is, because Star Fox 64 3D felt more like a remake than OoT 3D because of the reorchestrated music, re-recorded vocie acting, and the new multiplayer.

I guess it'd be nice for the sake of folks who enjoyed it, or those who missed out the first time around. But even if all the legal mumbo-jumbo could be worked around (hurrah for Jetpac), I wouldn't really be too interested. To me, it will always be a needlessly complicated Banjo-Kazooie clone, with all the fun sucked out of it. And besides that, I want new DK platformers now the Returns has whet my appetite. Just with more memorable enemies than the tikis, please.
