Between the Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos event running in Tainan and Los Angeles this weekend, and the Global event on February 28th and March 1st, Pokémon GO next week are holding a "rewind" of previous GO Tour events celebrating the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Unova regions in the Road to Kalos event, which will run from Monday, February 23rd, at 12:00am through to Friday, February 27th, at 11:59pm local time.

Pokémon Debuts
Pikachu wearing Red's hat, Pikachu wearing Leaf's hat, Pikachu wearing Ethan's hat, and Pikachu wearing Lyra's hat will make their Pokémon GO debuts, alongside their Shiny variants.

Event Bonuses and Activities
The following bonuses will be active during the event period:
  • 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in an Incubator bonus
  • The Remote Raid Pass limit will be increased to 30
Featured Attacks
The following Pokémon will know the following attacks when caught during the event:
  • Articuno encountered from raids will know the Charged Attack Hurricane.
  • Zapdos encountered from raids will know the Fast Attack Thunder Shock.
  • Moltres encountered from raids will know the Charged Attack Sky Attack.
  • Kyogre encountered from raids will know the Charged Attack Origin Pulse.
  • Groudon encountered from raids will know the Charged Attack Precipice Blades.
  • Origin Forme Dialga encountered from raids will have a chance to know the Charged Attack Roar of Time.
  • Origin Forme Palkia encountered from raids will have a chance to know the Charged Attack Spacial Rend.
  • Reshiram encountered from raids will know the Charged Attack Fusion Flare.
  • Zekrom encountered from raids will know the Charged Attack Fusion Bolt.
  • Kyurem encountered from raids will have a chance to know the Charged Attack Glaciate.

New Special Backgrounds

Trainers challenging the various Raid Bosses during the Road to Kalos event may receive new Special Backgrounds after making a successful catch. These souvenir backgrounds will appear on the Pokémon's summary page.
  • Pikachu wearing Red's hat and Pikachu wearing Leaf's hat can have a background inspired by Team Mystic, Team Instinct, or Team Valor.
  • Articuno can have a background inspired by Team Mystic.
  • Zapdos can have a background inspired by Team Instinct.
  • Moltres can have a background inspired by Team Valor.
  • Pikachu wearing Ethan's hat and Pikachu wearing Lyra's hat can have a background inspired by Pokémon Gold Version or Pokémon Silver Version.
  • Shadow Lugia can have a background inspired by Pokémon Silver Version.
  • Shadow Ho-Oh can have a background inspired by Pokémon Gold Version.
  • Pikachu wearing Brendan's hat and Pikachu wearing May's bow can have a background inspired by Pokémon Ruby Version or Pokémon Sapphire Version.
  • Kyogre can have a background inspired by Pokémon Sapphire Version.
  • Groudon can have a background inspired by Pokémon Ruby Version.
  • Pikachu wearing Lucas's hat, Pikachu wearing Dawn's hat, Pikachu wearing Rei's cap, and Pikachu wearing Akari's kerchief can have a background inspired by Pokémon Diamond Version or Pokémon Pearl Version.
  • Dialga and Origin Forme Dialga can have a background inspired by Pokémon Diamond Version.
  • Palkia and Origin Forme Palkia can have a background inspired by Pokémon Pearl Version.
  • Pikachu wearing Hilbert's hat, Pikachu wearing Hilda's hat, Pikachu wearing Nate's visor, Pikachu wearing Rosa's visor, and Kyurem can have a background inspired by Pokémon Black Version or Pokémon White Version.
  • Reshiram can have a background inspired by Pokémon Black Version.
  • Zekrom can have a background inspired by Pokémon White Version.
  • When a Zekrom or Reshiram that has a Special Background is fused with a Kyurem that has a Special Background of the opposite color, the fused Black Kyurem or White Kyurem will have its own variant background.
Timed Research
Event-exclusive Timed Research themed after the featured regions will be available starting at 5:00am local time daily during this event, with new Timed Research being made available each day. Trainers who complete these research tasks will receive Candy, TMs, and encounters with different costumed Pikachu, amongst other rewards.

Please note that Pokémon obtained from Timed Research encounters will not be able to receive Special Backgrounds.

The tasks associated with each Timed Research must be completed and their rewards must be claimed before 10:00pm local time daily.

Field Research Tasks
New event-exclusive Field Research tasks, themed after each day's featured region, will be available starting at 12:00am local time daily during this event. Trainers who complete these Field Research tasks will receive Candy and Candy XL for each day's featured Raid Bosses, as well as encounters with different costumed Pikachu.

Please note that Pokémon obtained from Field Research will not be able to receive Special Backgrounds.

GO Pass: Road to Kalos
The GO Pass offers Trainers a limited-time progression track offering a variety of ranked rewards and bonuses over a set period. Trainers will be able to rank up and complete their GO Pass by earning GO Points. GO Points for GO Pass: Road to Kalos can be earned between February 23rd at 10:00am local time, and March 1st, at 6:00pm local time. Towards the end of the pass period, from Saturday February 28th at midnight through to Sunday March 1st at 11:59pm local time, daily limits for how many GO Points can be earned will be removed, allowing Trainers an opportunity to catch up and claim all remaining rewards. All GO Pass rewards will expire on March 3rd, at 5:59pm local time, and must be unlocked and claimed before this time.

Rewards for GO Pass: Road to Kalos include an encounter with a Lucario that has a Mega Evolution-inspired Special Background. Other rewards include Lucario Mega Energy, a GO Tour 2026 Tee Avatar Item, encounters with event-themed Pokémon, Stardust, XP, Poké Balls, and Candy, amongst other items. Trainers will also be able to unlock a set of special bonuses as they reach major individual milestones:
  • Tier 1
    • Scatterbug will appear more frequently for Trainers when pinning Gifts
    • Open up to 100 Gifts per day.
    • Receive up to 200 Gifts per day from spinning PokéStop and Gym Photo Discs.
    • Hold up to 40 additional Gifts in your Item Bag.
    • Trainers will receive 1.5× Catch XP.
  • Tier 2
    • There will be a large increase to the catch effectiveness of Premier Balls.
    • Catch XP.
  • Tier 3
    • Substantial increase to the catch effectiveness of Premier Balls.
    • 3× Catch XP.
In addition to the free GO Pass, Trainers can also upgrade to a paid version, the GO Pass Deluxe. The deluxe version of the GO Pass: Road to Kalos offers faster progression up the ranks, plus the following additional bonuses on top of those from the free GO Pass:
  • Tier 1
    • Scatterbug will appear even more frequently for Trainers when pinning Gifts
    • Trainers will receive 1 additional Candy for catching Pokémon in five-star raids, Mega Raids, Primal Raids, and Shadow Raids.
    • Trainers will receive 1 additional Candy XL for catching Pokémon in five-star raids, Mega Raids, Primal Raids, and Shadow Raids (Trainers level 31+).
    • 2× Hatch Candy.
  • Tier 2
    • Additional 5,000 XP from completed raids.
    • 2× Hatch XP.
  • Tier 3
    • 2× Stardust from completed raids.
    • 2× Hatch Stardust.
The GO Pass Deluxe also grants additional rewards such as an encounter with Hoopa Unbound, a Lucky Trinket, Zygarde Cells, a Zygarde Jacket avatar item, Victreebel and Malamar Mega Energy, Candy XL, and a selection of premium items, including Premium Battle Passes, Incense, and TMs, amongst other items. Trainers can upgrade to the GO Pass Deluxe at any time, regardless of how far they've progressed in the GO Pass, and will receive all additional rewards from all previous rank levels that have already been unlocked. GO Pass Deluxe can be purchased either in-app or via the Pokémon GO Web Store for US$7.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in each local currency). For an additional US$2 (or the equivalent pricing tier in each local currency), Trainers can upgrade to the GO Pass Deluxe + 10 Ranks to be boosted directly to Rank 11. As with the regular GO Pass, GO Pass Deluxe rewards must be claimed prior to March 3rd, at 5:59pm local time.
