Don't miss the Pokémon GO debuts of Gigantamax Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise in this weekend's GO Bigger event

The Gigantamax phenomenon, which originally appeared in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, will make its Pokémon GO debut this weekend in the GO Bigger event, running from Saturday October 26th, at 10:00am, to Sunday October 27th, at 8:00pm local time. The Gigantamax forms of the Kanto First Partner Pokémon will each make their Pokémon GO Gigantamax debuts as part of this event.

Gigantamax
Gigantamaxing is a special kind of Dynamaxing that certain Pokémon are capable of. Like in the core series, in addition to granting tremendous strength and size, Gigantamax alters a Pokémon's appearance and allows it to use a powerful exclusive move called a G-Max Move.

As with Dynamax Pokémon, Pokémon with the ability to Gigantamax can be encountered, battled, and caught through a special kind of Raid Battle called Max Battles, which can be found at Power Spots throughout the map. Max battles against Gigantamax Pokémon will feature new in-game music arranged by Junichi Masuda specifically for these battles, inspired by the music from Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. Gigantamax Pokémon can only be defeated when enough Trainers unite as a team, requiring as many as 10 to 40 Trainers (split into groups of four or fewer) to defeat and capture. All Trainers joining a Max Battle will need to have at least one Pokémon in their party able to Dynamax or Gigantamax.

Similar to regular Dynamax Pokémon, Trainers can use Candy and Max Particles to unlock Max Moves on their Gigantamax Pokémon, and level them up for even stronger effects. Each Gigantamax Pokémon can learn up to three Max Moves, including their unique G-Max move, Max Spirit, and Max Guard. Unlike a regular Max Move, which is determined by the type of a Dynamax Pokémon's Fast Attack, a Gigantamax Pokémon's G-Max Move is determined by its species, with each species having its own unique G-Max Move.

If there are Gigantamax Pokémon placed at Power Spots, special wild encounters with Dynamax Pokémon may appear around the Power Spot.

Event Bundle in the Pokémon GO Web Store
Trainers can purchase the Max Particle Pack bundle on the Pokémon GO Web Store for US$7.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your each local currency. This bundle contains six Max Particle Packs, granting a total of 4,800 Max Particles.

Max Battles
The following Pokémon will make their Pokémon GO Gigantamax debuts in six-star Max Battles as part of this event:
  • Gigantamax Venusaur
  • Gigantamax Charizard
  • Gigantamax Blastoise
All three of these Pokémon may also occasionally be found in their Shiny variants.
