Dora the Explorer is getting a makeover.

The cutsie cartoon character is ditching her shorts and the neat little backpack for what her creators are calling a "new
fashionable look."
Although the new Dora will not be officially unveiled until fall, Nickelodeon and Mattel released a silhouette of the revamped figure that shows her with long locks, a short skirt and pointed ballet pumps.

Wait, why is she getting rid of her backpack?

Why a skirt? And to get rid of Backpack...

BLASPHEMY!

And I am to assume that instead of exploring, Dora will be teaching little girls how to cook and dress up? Because I highly doubt she'll be doing any 'exploring' in a short skirt and ballerina pumps of all things.
I know it's just the doll, but still...

Only one good thing seems to be coming out of that new design: Weight loss, and that the ugly little blubber ball really was due for a makeover.

Yes, we really need to emphasize to our country's women that you're absolutely worthless as a human being unless you're rail thin.

weiiirrrdddd.
the dora makers shouldn't be trying to compete with barbie and the bratz dolls. shes out there to be a smart latino girl who hangs out with animals and doing this is trying to make her more "acceptable??".
i think this is lame, dora was fine the way she is.
dressing her like that with no backpack is also lame, what are they going to sing about now?
a coin purse or something?

I guarantee that when this comes out that there will be a mess increase of people calling Dora a Hooker.

I think it'll depend on what the actual doll looks like.

And from the sillouette she doesn't look "rail thin"--those legs have a little chub to them, enough to be healthy. But then it's hard to tell from that angle.

Anyway, Backpack could be an optional accessory, or perhaps a smaller pack...although you'd think it'd still be the same given how much stuff teenagers schlep around.

Although as long as she's got the same attitude and interests, I really couldn't care less what she looked like. Dora's about the doing, and it *is* possible to do stuff like she's done while dressed like a fashion plate. Heck, Bond's done it for years in a tuxedo, so someone could do it in a breezy summer gown.

I guess I'll complain when they turn Swipper into her pimp...

Why do they need to revamp a character for a show for pre-schoolers to look like a teenager?

Wow, this is really weird, in my opinion. I guess we'll have to wait and see how this turns out... but I just can't imagine what the hell it'll be like with a "grown-up" Dora... :/

And where the hell is Map supposed to go now?!

Oh god, is backpack... A PURSE?!

No matter how hard I try... I just can't manage to make a catchy jingle with "purse"...

Didn't Nickelodeon learn with All Grown Up?

This.

So she'll be living in the big city, huh? I can just see it now. "OK, time to go to middle school! First we have to go through the dark alley, then past the drug dealers, then over the hobo! Let's go!"

What the ass have they gone and done to Dora? :O I can't recall any of her fans complaining that she needs a new image!

Okay, so it's only for the dolls, but still. People need to realize that if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
