Doraemon 2008 Movie to get US Release: Fact or Fiction

This is not an April Fool's joke, or at least it does not seem to be. For about a month or two there have been rumors that there is an English voice cast for the 2008 Doraemon movie, with a US movie release in December 2008 (via Columbia Pictures). Unfortunately the only real info I could find on this was through the imdb http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1180304/ and until recently Wikipedia. Both imdb and wikipedia's page for this movie had a list of voice actors for the US release, though through changes made on Mar 30th and 31st the wikipedia article just reads this:

There has been a rumor that this film will be released in the United States in December 2008. Currently no source confirms this rumor to be true. However, Viz Media owns the English-dubbing rights of Doraemon and has never used the license. That shows a very small chance of this happening.

So, opinions on a Doraemon US release? What do you all think about the possibility (though now seeming to be just a hoax started a couple months before Apr 1st...)? Also, would you go see it if it were to have a theatrical release, or would you wait for a DVD release for something like this?

Also, if anyone sees any proof either way (US release, or bad joke), this thread is where to post anything like that.

Wow.... um... why?
Doraemon hasn't been in the US since... I can't remember! I wonder if this means Cartoon Network is planning on airing the series on their children block weekday mornings.

I would watch it at the theater... it's just... strange!

Has it ever been in the US? I have never heard of any US dubbings of the 79 or 05 series'. I would also see this in the theater... more than once... but form the looks of it, I am wondering if this was an elaborate joke, or not. Also, I would doubt that CN would be broadcasting the series if it was ever dubbed with the listed voice cast... because Spongebob's va is listed as voicing Doraemon... which would lead me to believe that there would be a Nickelodeon airing instead...
