I found this website that allows you to download videos from youtube for free. However, fearing that I would break the law, I cheacked many sources saying if these sites are legal to use. However, many sources say it is legal to use just so I don't make a profit of it. Others say that it is Illegal to do. I checked Youtube's terms of aggreement just to be safe but they didn't say anything about it. So now i'm asking is if downloading videos using a third-party website is Legal or Illegal?

It's probably just as legal as using LimeWire.

The new real player can download any flash video you watch... you also always download the videos. If you look in your temporary video files, your last video loaded on youtube is in there completely downloaded as get video. It's how I use to save videos from there a long time ago.

Who ever told you it was illegal is crazy. You can't turn around and sell the video after (that's illegal) but even to just watch it, you are downloading the video (so it's fine)

I would assume that it all depends on what videos you're downloading. If say, you were using it to download episodes from TV shows or anime fansubs, (Yes kiddies, fansubs are indeed illegal, even the once that aren't licensed.) you know, the stuff that's always getting flagged and taken down, then yes, I would assume that that would indeed be illegal.

But, say you were just downloading some random video someone posted of themselves doing the Electric Slide or maybe some random AMV or something. In that case, unless you were planning on selling it for profit or something, or maybe pulling an eBaum's, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Given, the legality of it all is still questionable, but so long as you only keep the videos for yourself and don't try and upload them anywhere else, I highly doubt anyone will complain.

Depends where you live. I believe in the states it's illegal, but than again, i'm not from the states, so I probably don't know what I'm talking about.
