Hey, Brock does the preview...

Anyway, we see Jessie in a sexy Seviper costume fighting a Marowak with Dustox. I guess this is the Mysterious Gym.

We see Mukkuru and Aipom doing something.

James yelling at the twerps.

Brock going gaga for filler girl as Greggle follows Meowth.

Greggle inflates it's cheeks.

And we see a shadowy figure jumping out of a tree...It's Scizor!

It then ends with Greggle using some attack.

Scizor? Random one, or Red Lightning, or Masamune? xD

MORE SEXY COSTUMES!

Well, it can poison you just by touching you (in the Pokedex).

I have a question, is the gym in this episode a real gym? In the preview Brock mentions Ash trying to get a badge.

I definitly recognize the word "badge" in the preview dialogue.

The Scizor in the preview could be Gary's. He had one back in Johto. The way that it's shadowed dramaticly makes me think that this is a good possibility, and it would make more sense than it being just some random scizor. Or mayeb it belongs to the girl in the preview.

There's more than eight gyms per region in the anime. Maybe Ash just doesn't win this one.

(Though I would like him to win his first Sinnoh badge on the first attempt after the Battle Tower and Pyramid.)

If Gary was in the preview they would have showed his face.

Gary is not even confirmed to be in the D/P series, he's not even in the opening. Considering they put minor characters like Tracey/Oak/Delia, the Contest judges, and Hikari's Mom in the opening but there's no Gary, it makes me think he won't be in the D/P series.

Besides, who cares about Gary when we have Shinji now? Shinji is about a billion times more interesting than Gary, and makes him look two-dimensional by comparison. Honestly, I think Shinji shows how generic of a rival Gary really was, since he was only more or less a show off rather than having depth like Shinji does.

Not to mention the opening also makes it clear that Shinji is Ash's main rival in Shinou, so who knows if Gary will even show up again at all. With Shinji around, I find myself not caring if we ever see him again.

>:O Gary > Shinji (Though Shinji is still cool - even if he is just Silver rejigged and made into a character about 7 years later than he should have been).

I don't think we'll see much of Gary - but I believe we'll see him again in time. The fact he even appeared at all at the end of BF, let alone in two episodes pretty close to eachother is a fair indication that his VA is happy to return to the show occasionally following their extended break.

Though, ideally, i'd rather see him in the 10th movie and have his reintroduction used as a basis for that instead. Ash and Gary have fought and their rivalry settled more than most (though there's more than enough still there to go on, of course), now what they need to do is join together and save ze world - and when better to do it than in the 10th movie?

Gary > Shinji ^_^. Anyway, what ever happened to Gary going back to Shinou, didn't he say something about that in AG 191? Or did everyone just assume he was going back? Also, Gary wasn't in the 5th Pokemon opening (Ready Go) and yet he still played a big role in the Johto League competition.

I know that there are other badges besides the eight game badges but it would be out of character for Ash to compete for a badge and then give up instead of earning it. If he wants the badge and he loses, then normally he'd train and come back for a rematch, and keep having rematches until he won. If this gym really does give away badges then the writers are going to have to come up with some explanation for why Ash doesn't get it. (Rematches aren't allowed? Maybe it doesn't count towards the league?)

It would be awesome if Gary was in a movie. Personally, if I had control of the storyline, I'd have Shinji and Gary battle eachother some time in the future, maybe at the Shinou league. And Gary would win of course ^^.

Could be there isn't a gym at the end of the episode for there to be a rematch in. Things have a habit of going boom when Ash and/or Team Rocket are around.

The difference is the D/P opening featured a bunch of minor characters who didn't even need to be there, (did we honestly need to see the Contest judges in the opening, wtf?), and they didn't even include Gary in it. When minor characters are featured over him, that really makes you wonder if he'll even be in this saga.

I'm guessing if he does show up in Shinou, it won't be for a long time yet. Not to mention with Shinji around it makes the need to have Gary show up look kinda pointless. Gary isn't going for Gym badges, (I don't know who made that crap up), and he's definitely still a researcher.

I think people may have jumped the gun about Ash and Gary "reviving" their rivalry, considering the actual D/P series doesn't seem to be going in that direction like the end of AG suggested.

Wait, are we debating if this is Ash's first battle for a badge?

I mean, I seriously doubt the writers would give him an unofficial badge....

He probably wouldn't get a badge if its just another unofficial Gym. We've seen this plenty of times before in the series.
