Rival Introduction and appeals this round, hopefully for a long battle next week. Aipom's new technique is a mystery, although it could plausibly be double attack.

They need to hurry up and get mage, so we can respond to every inconsistancy with "A wizard did it."
 
The preview looks really good from those screenshots alone. I'm glad the writers put tremendous amount of work into the Contest arc, they've been doing a better job with them than the Gyms for a while now. The coordinators usually have real personality and depth and it looks like Hikari's rival will be just as interesting as Drew/Harley were.

Is Jessie entering? If not, I guess she's not going to become Hikari's rival like she was May's.

I really like the fact that Misdreavous is owned by a rival character. That Pokemon deserves good screentime.

The Shinou Contests seem more flashy than the Hoenn/Kanto ones, but I guess this is confirmation for good that there's no dancing or dress-up for the Pokemon. I guess like they ignored the special rules for the Battle Frontier, they're ignoring all Super Contest rules except the trainers dressing up. Very disappointing, but as long as the episode is good it may not matter.

I guess Hikari won't ever be battling in her normal clothes during Contests? I'd prefer it if she just wore the dresses for the appeals but switched to her regular clothes during battles. It'll tend to be awkward to see her as a strong trainer wearing a dress all the time.

I'm also glad the Contest arc is starting before the first Gym battle, and who knows when the heck that will happen either. (since the eps after are about Mukkuru and Brock). I hope they can make Hikari's Contest arc as exciting as May's was, but so far it looks like its off to a good start.
 
People are freaking out since it looks like Ash is entering. XD

Anyway, the rival owns Misdreavus and the other has Murkrow. Nice.

I'm going to guess that Ash has a go and just doesn't get through the appeals round. Even though he got through to the battle round of the last contest, someone has to not get through at some point.

Also, note how Pikachu spins with Hikari when she is showing off her dress. :-D
 
They look like their dancing. And Pikachu bows. EVEN FURTHER PROOF PIKACHU IS MALE! *poisoned, shot, stabbed, thrown in river*

It's a good thing my major is meteorology and not english. :loopy:

Anyway, wonder how far their willing to take Hikari's relationship with this rival.
