Probably.

The question is, why Electrike? Like Nuzleaf and Shiftry but unlike Feebas and Magikarp, it isn't in the Sinnoh Dex. That leaves the possibility of something of note happening, though I can't think of anything it could be. It didn't get that much spotlight in Hoenn after all.

does anyone else but me realize that this will be the first week in AGES since we havent had either new Yugioh GX or Pokemon DP episodes? bah, tough week for my otaku side.

So by the looks of the preview it's just going to be a filler where the group's electric pokemon train and the guy's electrike ends up evolving. Yay.

It seems like Kolink or Luxio would have been more appropriate choices (even if Kolink was kind of featured already). The choice of Rakurai is certainly peculiar, but not unwelcome.

Didn't I read a preview somewhere that said this was a Brock-centric episode?

Well, the Rakurai's owner is a breeder, so perhaps.

bah... the networks are really being dicks this year. Sure, we've had a ton of two-episode specials and such previously, but considering this is the 10th anniversary, you'd think the anime was getting special treatment. Instead, it apparently comes back to bite us all in the ass later. -_- And who wants to bet that, in spite of all these missed weeks, they're still gonna delay an episode around the holidays again?

Summary said Brock would demonstrate his training technique to help the Electrike's trainer. And now we know that the trainer is a breeder. And it looks like the Electrike is evolving in the preview.

Filler or not, I am looking forward to this.

I don't know why they're making fillers based on old Pokemon in D/P. They usually don't do this until late in the saga or something. Electrike got plenty of spotlight back at Wattsons Gym, so its not like we hardly saw it. I also would have preferred to see Luxio at least.

Still its nice to see Pikachu and Pachirisu training together, and as I said, they're really making a LOT of training episodes this saga. How often are Ash and Dawn training their Pokes this season? I can think of a lot of eps off the top of my head.

Actually, if you think about it, they've already had Shinx appear, and an Electric type really fits the bill...

Maybe this is the writer's way of complaining "you didn't give us enough new Electric types to play with this season".

Maybe we'll see a Pontya episode later.

Half an episode. That's definately below average.

Since the evolution will be near the end of the episode, the writers are probably saving Luxio for a proper debut later.

Shinx come to think of it got a horrid debut. Maybe this should of been Shinx Practice Center?

I wonder if Pachi or Pikachu will learn a new move?

Maybe they can get it to the point of Electrike evolving, using 'Insert New D/P Electric Attack here', and Pachirisu getting a chip off the Manectric block.

Or maybe the breeder works for Volkner! Or perhaps Raikou shows up... again! *Gasp* Will Pikachu evolve!?!

Or, y'know, it might just be another TR-filled episode with some goofy Brock laughs.

I think that either the writers want a change or they want to show how hard Ash and Dawn are working for the possibility of them winning their respective tournaments. I do not want to see Dawn win and I want an episode or 3 where we go visit May in Johto and watch her win the Grande Festival!

I don't imagine Dawn winning her first Grand Festival in either case, it would be too Mary Sue-ish. The theme of Pokemon is when you think you're strong there's always someone out there who is even stronger, as is the case with Ash and May losing all their major tournaments.

Dawn lost her first Contest to Zoey because she thought she could just breeze through Contests and be a champion like her mother, so I imagine the writers will play the overconfidence card with Dawn again come GF time, and either have her lose to Zoey or a new coordinator, although I'm hoping if she HAS to lose to someone it'll be Marina.

And I also imagine the writers don't want to throw away Dawn after Sinnoh ends, letting her lose allows them to keep her for whatever saga comes afterward. Dawn should get at least 200 episodes in the series, and the writers won't have to make another cast change until the 5th gen advertising starts anyway.

Why should the DP series have a longer episode count than that of AG? If anything, AG itself might not have made it to its count of 191 episodes had it been named RS instead.

well...considering that, so far, it's taking Ash longer to obtain badges in DP than it did in JOHTO, I'd say it's safe to assume that DP will probably be very long.

Longer than Johto is not necessarily longer than the entirety of AG. The writers appear to be dumbfounded as to what to expect from future games of this generation, thus naively taking their time in showcasing Sinnoh. At this rate, they are essentially forcing themselves to settle for a series of similar structure to that of the Johto series.
