Review DP060: Unknown of the Zui Ruins! ・ DP061: Pokémon Contest! Zui Convention!!

Since next week is an hour-long special, the previews for the two episodes were combined into one.

In the Unknown episode, we see a bunch of Unknown, underneath some red lighting, attacking with some beam weapon that comes from their eyes. We then see Satoshi, in what is assumed to be the titular ruins, running away from the beams.

We also see Hikari and all her pokemon standing around, apparently about to be attacked. At the last second, Aipom jumps up to shield Hikari from the attack and starts to glow. The narrator wonders what's happening to Aipom...

(And yes, it's the evolution glow).

In the second episode, it looks like we'll see Kengo and his Kinogassa face off against Musashi and her Dokucale.

So, only aipom evolves? Well, this could mean Dawn can use it for for the appeal round first, but I think is more possible to the battle round.

One pic of the preview shows TR hiding behind Dawn...so, I'm guessing it might be TG attacking?

I was really hoping it would be Ash's Chimchar. Oh well.


Anyway, I wonder how Ash will get his 3rd badge. Hopefully, he'll come up with some sort of awesome strategy like he usually does. ^^

It's funny how he has 2 badges right now in BOTH the dub and the Japanese version. XD

Anyway, so Aipom achieves it's destined show role and becomes Ambipom. Guess Double Hit is learned earlier in the ep?

Kinda glad if Chimchar doesn't evolve until after Veilstone Gym, if only because of Meditite.

Meh...I'd rather see Mukubird get a chance to shine since this'll be the last Gym where having it in the roster will make any sense. After that, it'll probably just pop balloons, get a filler episode where it evolves, and then get used in the Pokemon League.

So now we know Aipom evolve for sure... but I think Chimchar has a chance to evolve too and simply the preview didn't show it
I also hope they'll make Ambipom look better

When was the last time a character lost a Contest or Gym with a newly evolved Pokemon?

I assume Kenny will beat Jessie and the finals will be between him and Dawn. Two ribbons from the same guy...when will the writers introduce some fresh blood to Dawn's arc instead of reusing the same rivals over and over? At least Harley always made things exciting when he appeared.
