- Carnivine learns either Vine Whip or Power Whip in DP111
- DP114 is the contest and the one-shot rival is named Urara, and she got a Gabite.
- Pachirisu is going to be used in the contest

Now.. can anyone please translate all the text? I'm certain i've missed lots of details..

Carnivine with Power Whip = Win.

Pachirisu can't catch a break. It finally get's another contest appearance, and it has to go up against a Gabite.

At least they're finally bringing back the one-shot contest rivals. Its about time Dawn faces new people instead of the same rivals all the time.

Yet at the same time, poor Kenny hasn't appeared since the Solaceon Contest, which was nearly 60 eps ago. Poor Kenny, totally ignored. :(

Well, all we can hope is Kenny next time :(

At least Pachirisu shows up. I see Staravia, so is that suggesting an evolution?

If Gabite is going to be the pokémon du jour this time around, I imagine Pachi is going to be nothing more than appeal fodder, since the only moves it has are Spark and Discharge.

It'd be cool if she used Mamoswine and lucked her way through the battle portion, with said pokémon KOing the opponent before it's remaining points drop to zero. Then maybe the dissapointment of not winning via skill would prompt some actual on-screen training for the damn thing.
I guess it'd mean an unfair win, but y'know...shit happens.

This contest looks pretty boring. I misread 'Gabite' as 'Gallade' at first and almost said having Gallade would salvage it.

Can it be? Carnivine finally learning a new freaking attack....?!?! Oh thank God, why the hell was this not done earlier?

I don't know about Dawn winning this battle though, but hey, if she can tame Mamoswine with some good ice type attacks then it is certainly possible.

So now that they're finally bringing in one-shot contest rivals into Sinnoh, it somehow makes it boring? I'm sure this girl will be interesting in some way.

They should have been doing this since the beginning of the region, the only problem is poor Kenny hasn't appeared in ages.

You do realize that outside of Phantom, Kelly and maybe the Salaryman, May's oneshot rivals weren't all that terribly interesting either? There's a reason we saw so much of Harley and Drew during the Kanto Contests.

Interesting that you bring up Kenny, because his absence is one of the reasons for my saying this looks like it's going to end up boring. If they were going to use oneshot rivals they should have done it from the beginning, but after introducing at least two that should be expected to be seen often, forgetting about them is a mistake. I'd even take another Zoey appearance right now.

It's Vine Whip.

Thank you God! One of my few complaints about the show has been taken care of.

This Thursday is just going to be 30 minutes of pure awesomeness isn't it?

I approve of all of these things. It looks like we have some great episodes coming up. I'm also glad to see Mimirol in her outfit again.

I found Grace hilarious and Brianna was a cute fangirl. The only one that I didn't care for that much was that mother coordinator, but it was interesting to see a parent do contests as her daughter looked up to her.

The point of one-shot coordinators in the first place is to add some variety to the arcs. Sitting through the same 2 or 3 rivals in every contest would get old, it was especially tiresome that we saw Zoey so much in the first half of DP.

Now they're finally giving us a break from Zoey and bringing in some fresh blood. The other problem is Dawn's other rivals are getting screwed out of appearances.

I honestly don't know why the writers are giving Dawn's other rivals so little screentime, there is a definite imbalance in screentime but there's nothing that can be done about it.

What episode was this mother coordinator in? I can't recall anyone like that. .-.

What about Yuri? She was a one shot coordinator...

It was in Advanced Challenge or something like that. I remember that it was in a town called Rubelo and this was the second one May didn't win.

If it would help better, Savannah was the mother, Sandra was the daughter.

That Dawn should have had no chance against.

If the return of oneshot coordinators also means the return of uber wins (ie: Skitty vs. Dusclops) I say no thanks.

The problem is that the one-shot coordinators start being featured late in the generation, when the only Pokemon left are the really powerful uber evolved Pokemon. And since by then the main characters need some rack up wins to make it to the GF, we get things like Buneary beating the crap out of Garchomp.
