- We see an old man and a younger girl. The old man calls out his Hassamu.

- We see Hassamu fight against Glion in the sky for a bit.

- Glion gets slammed against a cliff wall.

- We see a scene at night with Glion and Satoshi. I guess Satoshi is trying to cheer it up for a rematch?

- We see more fighting footage. Glion appears to be throwing dirt in Hassamu's face.

I'm really confused about this ep... but I'll stay convinced that Gliscor leave until proved otherwise, just to be prepared
BTW, I won't read today's ep thread until I watch it, so my thoughts on that will come later (just wanted to say in case someone wonders why I'm not replying there)

I guess the post I made at the "upcoming eps" thread should be posted here too so I'll copy-paste it:

TV Tokyo have posted up the preview statement.

Translation:

Gliscor Challenges Air Battle Master's Scizor. However, strong force of wall blocks it. What should it do? And... Gliscor decides.

On their travel, Satoshi group arrives at the area with many cliffs. At there, Scizor and Chimecho were having intense aerial battle.
During the battle, Scizor's trainer Mitsujo and his grandson Mayo shows up. Expert on aerial battle, Mitsujo is called as "Air Battle Master" and appears to be a master of raising flying-type Pokemon. Satoshi and Gliscor challenges him right away.

However, during the battle, Gliscor keeps making mistakes because it wasn't able to adapt battle area's wind flow. Witnesssing this, Mitsujo thinks its hopeless and speaks harshly to it. Gliscor cries in anger.
After more training, it challenges Mistujo again...

I have to admit... now I'm not so sure of Gliscor leaving... as it seems like that air master isn't very nice and instead of taking it for training, he just laughs at it... Ash probably won't give his Pokémon to someone who laughed at it
It seems like Gliscor will learn Giga Impact in order to prove itself
I still wonder though, if Gliscor doesn't leave - what will happen with Gible?
I still think it's possible that Gliscor will leave in this episode (that air master can apologize after the second battle and then explain how he was wrong and would like to train it...) but if not, then I guess Gible will just be sent to Oak
I'll be really happy if Gliscor stays... but I better stay prepared for the worst

I smell Primeape like episode

Re: DP 154 "The Air Battle Master Enters! Glion vs. Hassam!!" Preview Thread

Looking at the part with the sponsors, it also appears that Glion will be learning Giga Impact next episode as it starts to be used.

Re: DP 154 "The Air Battle Master Enters! Glion vs. Hassam!!" Preview Thread

The episode looks like your typical "Pokemon learns a new move" episode.

I also didn't see any indication that Gliscor would be leaving. When I first saw the preview, the night scene did scare me, until Ash said something and Gliscor smiled.

Given what's shown in the preview, I don't really think it makes sense for Gliscor to be given to the air master. In fact it would be pretty stupid, and given the summary it would reach new heights of idiocy.

Even if he apologized for being mean to Gliscor, I still wouldn't want Gliscor to be given to him. And if the writers somehow have Gliscor agree to it (that's like Paul apologizing and asking if he could have Monferno/Infernape back), I'll be disappointed with the episode, even if before it was really good.

Re: DP 154 "The Air Battle Master Enters! Glion vs. Hassam!!" Preview Thread

Actually, I already said before that I won't be that surprised if Monferno is returned to Paul after Paul change
I know it'd be ridiculous but it's totally fitting the Pokémon anime and Ash's character to let Paul get another chance... and Monferno also seems to be a kind Poké that might want to give its former trainer another chance if he truly changes...

Anyway, I agree it looks less likely that Gliscor will leave but I still insist it's possible
I prefer to be ready... if I'm proven wrong then great, I'll be happy - and if I'm right then at least it'll be less "shocking" since I expect it

Re: DP 154 "The Air Battle Master Enters! Glion vs. Hassam!!" Preview Thread

it's too early to tale anything, true it's more likely that Gliscor will stay but keep this in mind.

If i recall correctly when Ash released Charizard the charizard's in the valley and even Liza weren't too kind to it either, Charizard had to prove it's heart in order to be accepted.

Not all masters are easy going fun guys, some of them take thier job's seriously to push thier students(or in this case pokemon) to thier limits.

and let us not forget the golden rule, previews don't show everything.

It seriously looks like no one is going anywhere. I can see Gliscor using this training to really get some heavy duty power but not to leave.

Re: DP 154 "The Air Battle Master Enters! Glion vs. Hassam!!" Preview Thread

If Gliscor is released than I can't forgive DP.

For all the improvements made in DP, the writers still fall back on their old mistakes.

Sinnoh is as dragged out as Johto was and if it has the releases of Kanto then I officially give up. I hope Ambipom was a one-off mistake.

Re: DP 154 "The Air Battle Master Enters! Glion vs. Hassam!!" Preview Thread

Can anyone decipher what attack Scizor is using against Gliscor, the bluish "electrical" looking attack.

Scizor can't learn anything that fits it. The only thing I can think of is bug buzz.

Anyone else think they might know what it is? The animation looks fairly new for an attack, so maybe an attack that hasn't shown up yet in the anime...

Re: DP 154 "The Air Battle Master Enters! Glion vs. Hassam!!" Preview Thread

Scott, will you think the same if Ambi and possibly Gliscor return to help later? for me, it'd fix the "mistake" of the release in a way... it'd be similar to Chari/Squirt rather than a true release

Re: DP 154 "The Air Battle Master Enters! Glion vs. Hassam!!" Preview Thread

I really think Ash will just oak Glisor. It wouldn't make sense to give it to some one who just bashes, Ash respects his Pokemon. Hey'll probaly just switch off at the league.

Perhaps but don't you think it would be better to showcase the "rotation" method in the anime? Because once you release a Pokemon in the games, you can no longer have that Pokemon ever.

I can understand why some wouldn't like a Pokemon to go to Professor Oak's lab because it could be boring for that Pokemon. Which is apparently how Dogasu feels about Ash's Butterfree, but still it is much preferable. Ash might not use said Pokemon ever again, but at the very least we are guaranteed to see it when Ash goes to see his other Pokemon.

Anyway if Gliscor does go to the air master, we're all going to have to deal with it, even if that's not what we want.

And if Gliscor is supposed to come back for the Sinnoh League, wouldn't it be better if there was actual dialogue within the episode. Instead of leaving it in the dark. But then I guess promises are hard to keep and it would be better if there was no promise.

Re: DP 154 "The Air Battle Master Enters! Glion vs. Hassam!!" Preview Thread

If Gliscor goes with the Air Master then it is a release, regardless.

I also still have my doubts if we'll ever see Ambipom again, so if Gliscor goes it'll likely be the end of it.

What "rotation"? We're at the end of Sinnoh... it's not like there's a lot more eps for Ash to start change his team every few eps

Because once you release a Pokemon in the games, you can no longer have that Pokemon ever.

Ash doesn't "release" it, he'll let it stay somewhere to train or whatever and in case it'll be possible for Ash to call it for help, it's no different than being with Oak

Also, in the games your Poké arent sent to where you got your Pokédex from either, so it's not that good example

wouldn't it be better if there was actual dialogue within the episode. Instead of leaving it in the dark.

It both makes it more interesting for the viewers and also make it easy for the writers to choose later if they want to do it or not

If Gliscor goes with the Air Master then it is a release, regardless.

With that logic you could say Squirt went with Jenny so it's a release...
Seriously, I don't like the word "release" anyway - we have Poké that left Ash and Poké that left him but can still return to help sometimes
In case Gliscor is given to the air master, if they don't clearly say anything (and they probably won't) we can't know to which group of the "Poké that left" Gliscor belongs, until proved one way or the other (=until the League or even until next gen begin, if it won't return by then, I'll give up)

I also still have my doubts if we'll ever see Ambipom again, so if Gliscor goes it'll likely be the end of it.

We really can't know... but I guess it is better to be prepared for the worst, so that's what I'm going to do

Re: DP 154 "The Air Battle Master Enters! Glion vs. Hassam!!" Preview Thread

If Glion leaves... I will be so mad! Wtf are the writers doing?!

But anyway, I really didn't find the preview that interesting. It looks like the standard fare.

Re: DP 154 "The Air Battle Master Enters! Glion vs. Hassam!!" Preview Thread

Surprisingly decent animation, especially considering this is a Kinoshita episode. I don't know if it's just me but doesn't that old man look like Mr. Briney and that girl as Misty? Reused character designs, I tell ya. :p

If Gliscor goes with the Air Master then it is a release, regardless.

I also still have my doubts if we'll ever see Ambipom again, so if Gliscor goes it'll likely be the end of it.

No one considers Charizard and Squirtle as releases so why Gliscor? Oh right, it's because they appeared again which proves that they weren't released. Gliscor could easily get the same treatment. Eh, whatever. We shouldn't be jumping to conclusions anyway.

Kinoshita is animating this? :O It looks pretty nice.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing Glion have a great battle and I have a bit of faith that it isn't going anywhere.

Re: DP 154 "The Air Battle Master Enters! Glion vs. Hassam!!" Preview Thread

Maybe the fact that a bad animation director was given this episode means it won't be released. Who animated Ambipom's departure ep?
