Review DP167: The Beach Pokémon School!

[Dogasu]

- Hikari's theme is playing during the preview.

- Apparently, Hikari's mom gives them a pamphlet about the Beach Pokemon School.

- Satoshi and Hikari show off their badges and ribbons, respectively, to a group of tiny kids.

- One kid stretches Potchama's face. Later, the little penguin gets hit in the head by what looks like a baseball.

- Next, we see Potchama, with writing all over its face, chasing a kid with a marker in his hand.

- The preview ends with each one of Hikari's pokemon launching various attacks.

Looks like Dawn's practicing some new appeals (spiral Ice Beam go!). Showing off to the kids at the Coordinator School I assume. That's right Gible, bite Ash's head more.

Oh, he's animating this? Good thing Musashi is winning her 4th ribbon in this episode then. I just wish they would have shown her in the preview, but I guess the contest won't get much screentime after all...

Wow I think I'm the only one who thinks this will be a fun break episode.

Now back to the quoted post, Buneary's spiraling ice beam was really cool, even if it is an ice type, they've never quite done that before. I really hope for a new move on Pachirisu/Buneary.

^ I think it looks like a fun break episode too. We need this break and I like seeing Dawn train on screen.

Besides, I think everyone should remember "Pochama gets lost" and how they all thought that episode would be dead boring too.

Well-animated episodes are always a joy to watch. And that's in no small thanks to the superb animation of course.

I figure we need a break like this to help Dawn get ready for the GF. This provides the time and practice needed to be focused, well-trained, and in top condition.

Didn't you guys learn after the awesome Pochama episode we got two week ago?

Wouldn't it be better to watch something with negative expectations, so that the episode may actually shock you and be really good?

I hope Ash does something other than sit around, a little training wouldn't hurt even if it is Dawn's time.

We don't know that for sure yet, and from watching the preview it didn't really look like him to me. Seeing the preview again on Filb might change my mind, though...

Anyway, looks like an amazing episode. Johanna's showing up is super random but I like it, Dawn focus = win, Piplup looks funny, Spinning Ice beam is not a new move Buneary, learn one you lazy bunny. New combinations, contest training, Mamoswine, Pachirisu, everything that makes a good episode good.

Contest training when the Grand Festival is right around the corner... That's filler how ? Plus, let's not show Dawn's pokemon, let's not have this thing called character developpement.

Is it so surprising that they're gonna have Jessie's plot of winning a fourth ribbon reduced to 5 minutes ? I mean, it's just her in this contest. That means no rivals just COTD, so what would we be missing here ? The non-important dialogue that Jessie would have with her COTD opponent... We'll probably see the good stuff i.e. her appeal, part of her battle and Johanna judging.

I hope this combination is for the battle rounds. Mimirol can be dumped with given the appeal round.


COTD seems like a brat. Pochama's equal?

I'm looking forward to Habunake's appeal. I really cannot think how those wings are formed.
