It looks like Hikari is a teacher and she perfects her new Contest combination. This airs March 11th.

Um... where the heck is the 8th gym battle?! Could the writers be stretching things out so only the Grand Festival is before the movie, then the league? This is really strange...

You'd think with the 5th gen coming out in the Fall they'd get a move on so we don't get a rushed league.

I hope this does not mean the Sinnoh league is going to be a rush-job when we get to it.

Well the one thing this saga's been known for is unpredictableness,

I just hope Musashi will be getting her new ribbon soon...

This had better be an epic gym battle, the way they've been putting it off.

I expect Pikachu to Iron Tail a Raichu and OHKO it. Then strike an epic pose.

It certainly is... feasible that they'd stretch out the 8th Gym. No sense in coming for an eppy or two and then skeedaddling. Remember Claire and Blackthorn? That was about 4-5 episodes. Same thing here. EDIT: Or heck, even the Veilstone arc (little more recent) which had all kinds of fun stuff, from Reggie to Galactic.

Looks like our menu this time is Flint, Volkner's problem, the lighthouse, some... Dawn combination thing, the Ranger episodes, and whatever else.

"Fall 2010" is just an assumption. The only confirmaton we have at the moment is "sometime in 2010."

Assuming the game(s) do(es)n't get delayed, we could get a December release date and that statement would still be true.

Which would be nice, because it sure doesn't seem like the writers are in a rush at the moment. I just hope that Ash winning at the Gym is not delayed even further. We've waited like 35 episodes for this badge.
 
Oh, come now, we still have like 20 eps before the movie(without delays), and 7 more after that before September begins. (And I seriously doubt it would be that soon) I think we still have time.

I'm wondering the same thing myself... It's really not clear, especially because of the summary for DP166, it implies that Ash is in the midst of a battle

even weirder is this coming from the episode summary

which would mean that Ash is either still battling Flint by the beginning of DP166 or has already started battling Volkner by the end of DP165... Whichever it is, if they intend to close the gym battle before the Ranger episode... I don't really see how they're gonna do it without rushing...

I can't believe the writers make us wait 35+ episodes for Ash to get to Sunnyshore, only to throw another 5 episodes in our face before we see the gym in early april... Wow, this ep is weird...

That being said any episode focusing on Dawn usually ends up being really good, so I'm not mad, just really really confused on the timeline of the Sunyshore arc.

Agreed, its understandable that they needed to extend Sinnoh a bit, but this is not the best way to do it. I would have rathered Sunyshore be done and over with and for them to give a couple training eps before the tournaments.

20 episodes (that's counting DP165, 166, 167, 168, 169 who have already been spoken for in terms of plot) that would leave 15 episodes to do the entire Grand Festival and Sinnoh League before the movie, + Dawn catching togekiss (if it doesn't happen in DP166 or DP167) + apparently the last gym battle + a couple of fillers = rush

Technically, this would be a Dawn training episode... but still, no news on her catching Togekiss, since Dp166 seems to be the Grotle evo episode (as only Dodaitose (Torterra) holds the key to the Tower's disappearance...) Can't really see the writers using Togekiss in the GF without showing Dawn training it at least once...

So where is the gym battle?!?

I thought that they already finished with Sunyshore arc in 168 right?
 
Yes we have an information that Ash is appearing in the pokemon ranger in DP168. So in DP168 they are out of sunyshore.
So I think he get the badge in DP166.

I didn't know Ash was in those.
 
So if Ash is not in Sunyshore in DP 168, it means that in 166 he gets the badge, no?
