Someone else is bound to post this, so I'll get to it first:

I wouldn't use this as confirmation of staff for the episode, because it lists different people writing an animating DP181.

Anyway, this news certainly makes things interesting for the movie. So much for that being the cause of the league starting in July. It's just a shame we'll have a two(?) week break before things really get going. Pretty smart way to get people excited for it.

So does this mean that the movie will take place during the league or that the movie will be aired alongside with the anime.

my guess is after the league, maybe they going to spam 2 episode together for awhile.

Unless they leave the league for Crown City and come right back for some dumb reason, I think this might be the first movie that's not canon.

Well, that was expected since DP182's title clearly told us that ep is the night before the League... and we also knew the twerps arrive at Suzuran Island in DP 181
Also, this proves for 100% that the movie won't be released in a logical time with the episodes like it usually was... I guess it was just a coincidence with the previous movies... maybe every movie is released in a "more or less around this ep" but there's no real official place for the movies between eps...

How does that mean it's not "canon"? Let's not start with this ridiculous word again... everything is "canon"... as if random fillers are ever mention again in later eps - I guess they're not "canon" either...

All it means is that movies have no exact place between episodes... they usualy premiere in Japan in a time that makes sense at least by the group's Poké, but other than that there's no real place for the movies in the show itself
Every movie fits a certain group of eps, the eps where the main cast owns the Poké they have in the movie

WOW the league is finally here I wonder how this thing is gonna start. Do you think we'll see a double battle or a 3 vs. 3 battle or even a round robin like in the Johto league?

So we have a confirmed break on the 8.7 and I think that based on the past it's logical to assume 15.8 will be a break too
Looks like I was right: League start with the first ep of July and July will have 3 eps only, then August give us 4 eps more, and the first ep of September will be the last League ep... then we have 3 eps more if BW is released in the last week of September and if there are no breaks in September
In case we really get 3 eps after the League - I see the first of them being the ep where Brock finds his new goal and leave and then the final two eps are Dawn leaving after Kenny and Ash going to Isshu
If there are breaks or BW released earlier in September, that would leave us with only 1 or 2 eps after the League... which would mean Brock will get a rushed departure and Dawn might not even get a tag battle or something to do with Ash before she leaves...

Holy crap. Slowkingsley must have F5 spammed 2ch. That title sure came out super fast after it was posted there.

Anyway, animation director for this episode: Natsume.

I'm not particularly excited for this episode since opening episodes are always pretty boring.

Remember Pip that your calendar only works if the league is 8 eps it could easily be 9-10 with all of the full battles that could be going on.

But then it won't leave place for eps after the League... I think it's obvious we'll have at least 2 eps after the League... unless they're going to make a ridiculous and very rushed ending which would be stupid
I can't see why a League needs more than 8 eps (especially with DP182 being a set up ep and DP181 make the twerps already arrive there)
ep 1 preliminaries, ep 2 VS Conway, ep 3 VS Nando, ep 4 VS Barry or random character, ep 5-6 VS Paul, ep 7-8 VS legendary user
There's really no need at all for more than 8 eps... 10 eps of nonstop battles would be very boring... unless they make some special interesting plot and focus on it and not just on the battles, which I doubt...

15/8? I assume you mean 15/7. This date there will NOT be a break. They won't have 2 breakes in a row. Besides, it has been confirmed that 29/7 there'll be a break due to Naruto. To clarify, July looks like this:

1/7: DP183
8/7: Break
15/7: DP184
22/7: DP185
29/7: Break

Didn't know about Naruto... well, it's still 3 eps in July with 2 breaks like I expected

8 eps is a LOT for Pokémon
Nothing should ever get 10 eps - it's too much and will end up being too long and boring
8 is perfect, especially when we have the set up ep (DP182) and they alerady arrive at the place in DP181

I hope people realize that if this League really will get 8 eps that would be the longest arc ever in the whole show
The longest anything ever was is the Leagues which were 6 eps, if you count set up eps then the longest was the Johto Legue (but League itself was 6 like the others)
Now the League will likely be 8 eps and if we count set up eps that's 9
I can't see anything to complain about
That's more than enough

What do you mean? Naruto airs before Pokemon or after?

If so they should air two eps in 22.5 to make up for that.

No, never mind that. Naruto is getting a double episode because Pokemon is eating into it's time slot with their "let's show a movie instead of an episode to celebrate the new movie in theaters" thing.

That doesn't mean anything. Movie 1 was definitely canon, but it premiered in Japan in July 1998, 2 months before Mewtwo's debut episode. Of course - the Porygon episode may've had an impact there, but just because the episodes and movies don't match up doesn't suggest anything about the canon.
