In interviews Junichi Masuda and Takeshi Kawachimaru did for G4, it was said that Giratina and its Distortion World were created to be personifications of antimatter.

Darn beat to it

Pretty bad concept considering you (something made out of matter) enters the anti-matter Distortion World and do not blow up from the contact.

I know what it isn't: Satan. I just hate it when people call Giratina the pokemon equivilent of satan.

Honestly, according to the dex it has some very Satan/Loki/etc characteristics, what with being "banished for its misdeeds" and all. There's nothing in there about antimatter so I think Masuda et al should have made it more obvious. Especially if it originated from the same universe as everything else.

Yeah, I still find it ridiculous how they take really scientific concepts and create the equivalence of ancient Pokemon World deities. Not that I don't think science and religion can't coexist, just that they really didn't really handle it very well.

Honestly, how different could an anti-matter world be? Wouldn't everything just be oppositely charged? I doubt the forces of gravity would be warped and plants would disappear. And then there's you, Cynthia and Cyrus, things made of matter in an anti-matter realm. You'd think the particles you're made from would start being anhialated and converted to energy when you step in that realm.

But it does appear in an ancient graveyard.

Hmm... Blackjack has a point. Giratina, the fallen angel apprentice of Arceus... Concept for yummy fanfic! *runs off somewhere*

Giratina is more like a Grim Reaper sorta guy...not in appearance but with all the things around graveyards. And I don't think of it as the embodiment of anti-matter but as the embodiment of reverse, mirror reflection things...he's a "-" but not in an anti-matter anihilating way... IMO nobody get's what I'm saying now...

I think Dusknoir already claimed grim reaper, but that is the best explanation i've heard.

Yeah, Dusknoir is the closest thing to a Reaper...I mentioned Giratina isn't a Reaper in appearance but in behaviour, legends and other things...

So he's the Pokemon equivalent of Bloody Mary?
