So I was a big fan of Mass Effect, and have seen some stuff of Dragon Age in various installments by watching friends. I really want to try the series out for myself, but don't know where to start or which platform to play it on. I have PC that can run some games and a PS3. What game is first and what platform should I try it on?

Platform wise I prefer the ps3 over pc. The series starts with origins then awakening then two. The next main game would be inquisition but I would recommend playing the legacy dlc for two before moving on to inquisition. The main bad guy in inquisition is introduced in that particular piece of dlc.

I did know about the villain of Inquisition is a dude that showed up in dlc of 2. I just needed to know the order the games go in.

I got Origins through that promotion with their app...Origin(lols) majority of people seem to enjoy the first game on PC, it runs pretty well because it's an old game. My PC is low end-ish, I cannot run new games or any game from Ubisoft(though I bought Assassin's Creed: Revelations on PC for 10$, it peaked at 20 fps, lolol) then I got the second game, I had to change the renderer to DX9 in order to play(it reduced the loading times by a lot) and it ran pretty well on low(with some texture mods)

Oh the mods...some are confusing to use but don't trust any other site to install your mods, nexusmods are always the place to get mods :p

I got Inquisition on PS3 though, I don't think my PC can handle the Frostbite 3 engine.

I am going to update my pc after i get some cash, and I avoid mods that aren't in the steam work shop, mentioned on steam, or a friend recommends. I used to get mods off the old site before l4d2 had work shop i think

I just got into the series as well. I started with Dragon Age Inquisition and just read this article from Kotaku which summarizes the lore from previous games.

I spent 90 hours on DAI and although it would have been good to play the other games, I didn't feel like I was lost or really missing out on much. I'm also a Mass Effect fan but after playing DAI, I have to admit I like the lore from DAI more than the ME series.
