Dragon Ball introduces... Vegeta's little brother?!

That's because this forum is ridiculously slow when it comes to reporting news about anything that's non-Pokemon.

Anyway, the new animated short, which is currently airing during the Jump Super Anime Tour, will be available online starting November 24th.

I remember reading about this. This special seems like it will be better than the whole of GT. Giving Vegeta a brother is a pretty interesting plot point.

Will they keep all of the old seiyuus? I mean, it's been a pretty long time.

The ones that haven't died yet still provide their voices for a Dragon Ball game or two every year. They're all very active.

Yeah, but... the brother looks like he's the same age as Gohan. He should be around the same age as Goku. Sure, they gave him a wife, but she looks more like a plushy than anything anyway so it's like... o_O

"Tarbie, what does the scouter say about his power level!?"

"My big brother wears silly shirts!"

"..."

It seems the writers have been perusing fanfiction.net for inspiration.

X years Y episodes and Z movies and just NOW they're giving him a brother??

Pretty sure Funi'll snag it. Question would be when, during or after they are done with the DVD-collections of GT.

Just saw the special. And...er...not really a huge fan of it.

Hope the One Piece special's better.

I loved it. Sure, there were a couple small problems with it, like Goten, Trunks and Gotenks doing more or less all the fighting, and the fact that the new non-villain characters, Tarble and Gure, really didn't do anything at all, but it was was still really fun to watch, and it was great to finally see some of my favorite characters in action again after all these years.

The One Piece special was more on the meh side for me. It's an adaption of Romance Dawn 1, which essentially was a rough draft of the Buggy arc with far less interesting characters. I understand they wanted to do something new for this special, but animating one of the not-as-good-as-the-real-series tryout chapters wasn't really the best way to go.

I actually liked the One Piece one better, though not by much.

I had a lot of problems with the Dragon Ball special, though. Vegeta was horribly out-of-character (seriously...why is he such a comic relief character in this special?), Table was useless and pretty much vanished once the fight started, his wife was even more useless and seemed to exist only to have Muten Roshi make a joke about her, and the villains were extremely generic and uninteresting. Not to mention how Goten and Trunks were shoved down our throats for 3/4 of the special.

The lack of any explanation about Table also really bugged me.

I did, however, like the nice opening sequence and the part at the end where all the side characters got to save the people at Mr. Satan's party using their signature attacks. The radish picking scene was pretty entertaining as well - I seriously lol'ed at the radish Kame Sen'nin pulled out. And the animation was really nice even if I'm not a fan of the way they started drawing Goku's and Vegeta's arms starting at the Majin Boo arc.

I quite enjoyed it, but I had a hell of a time playing the video; bloody thing kept freezing.

I don't understand some of the complaints that people made about this video. Not necessarily here, but on youtube and such. Either saying that the villians were weak, or that they didn't develop the plot enough or whatever. It was a special, meant to be something light. I don't think the concept of it was understood, and it seemed like people were probably expecting a Brolly-esk installment or something.

I took it as it was intended, and enjoyed it.

The only problem I have was the lack of backstory or explanation on Vegeta's brother. It seemed like they thought "Hey, wouldn't it be awesome to give Vegeta a sibling", and then half-way through the movie forgot that they'd only just done so. I mean the explanation made sense though, and given Vegeta's personality and interest in hierachy, as well as what seems to be the belief that power plays a large part in defining a person - it'd make sense that he wouldn't ever "claim" a weak brother. So I guess they got away with that in my book.

All in all, I enjoyed it. It was pretty funny.

Kind of wishing they did more with Tarble and Gure (you'd think the kids would be all over him). It is, in fact, awesome, to get another view of outside-species marriage, but...wow. Otherwise, Tarble's too short for me to believe he's between 2-4 years younger than Vegeta. He looks 12. How is is possible that Vegeta-Ou's offspring keep getting shorter and shorter?

Lack of Tien and Chaotzu made me sad. Backstory on Tarble is stupid: Vegeta, Nappa, and Raditz went on a limb to find the lost baby whose power level read as "1" when he was born. They went looking for an infant that turned out not to not have done its job in the 20-something years its been there, but instead of assuming it can't fight, they still look into it? Yet leave the exiled prince that may or may not have learned to fight.

*many an excuse filters in* ...Okay, can't nitpick that anymore.

Ah, but Tarble. I'm so sorry. You're over fifteen years too late. You could have been brilliant.

I thought it was a nice episode except too much mr satan, i cant stand him at all, i did like the fact that if you put vegeta and tarbles names together you kind of get vegetables.
